Rbray47 Posted Thursday at 06:51 PM Posted Thursday at 06:51 PM Amt Mack Cruiseliner and R685. I absolutely hate those Mack tandem rears. No matter what I do, I can't get them together. The Cruiseliner is the worst, since the rest of the kit is as horrible as the suspension. The R will eventually get built with a single Drive once I dig out some leaf springs that look right. But the Cruiseliner...not sure when or if it'll get finished. Plus, I have a 51 Fleetline full custom thats been going a long time. I started it shortly after buying the kit when it came out, and it's the "Millennial" boxing lol. Its finally in paint and on four wheels, but the interior hasn't even been started.
bill-e-boy Posted Friday at 07:19 PM Posted Friday at 07:19 PM I have a lowly few 26T pickup that just needs finishing - been building since the early 2000's - got to the stage where some parts needed to be chromed and this was before Alclad became available A lowboy 34 PU that got too hard - been on the go for at least 10 years A Monogram 32 roadster with a R&D Unique chassis that really does need to be finished - but original build style now out of date so a rethink needed. This was stalled because at the time again because Alclad etc was not available Then there is the AMT 49 Merc I chopped way back in the 80's and one or two other minor builds that got put back in teh box for one reason or another There are others but I do try to keep the number of kits on the bench to two or three as I find it too hard to pick up the pieces and move foward
sidcharles Posted Friday at 07:24 PM Posted Friday at 07:24 PM for me, it's under the bed. never sleep with your feet out from under the blankets. 1
MeatMan Posted Friday at 07:46 PM Posted Friday at 07:46 PM (edited) You guys are very therapeutic. I thought I had a problem for a minute there. I only have about four builds in the truly shelved stage. The one that bothers me the most isn't the oldest, but one I had high hopes for. I just wanted to make a wild custom, mostly using parts I designed and printed. I got to a decent stage and then went blank. I still plan to finish it, but I don't know when. Part of my issue is my workshop. Which needs a lot more lighting. I think I'll start there. Edited Friday at 07:50 PM by MeatMan 1
Wickersham Humble Posted 20 hours ago Author Posted 20 hours ago Sid, good advice! I still worry about those monsters under my bed, (ala Calvin & Hobbes) getting my toes -- and wanting more! Wick
Keef Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I have numerous (10-15?) kits in various stages of completion. Some could be finished in a couple of hours, some would take a couple of days. I get so far on them and then something either goes horribly wrong (forgetting which clear I used and spraying Rustoleum over Tamiya) or I go in search of something to finish one build and end up starting/mocking up another project. Then there’s the fact that I’m starting to think that the manufacturers are plotting against me and keep releasing all of these new kits that I just have to have(added to the almost 200 that I have already). 1
Radretireddad Posted 46 minutes ago Posted 46 minutes ago The biggest obstacle to a finished project for me is trying to decide on a color combination. Once that’s set I usually have no problem finishing it.
Spex84 Posted 21 minutes ago Posted 21 minutes ago I'm not sure my "stalled" projects really count, but...all of my projects are unfinished for various reasons and I find it easier to start more than to finish the existing ones. '59 Impala, stalled since the early 2000s:ghosting in the paint, finally corrected it, need to paint it in a Kandy finish and I'm afraid of messing up again '30 Ford coupe: stalled at paint, just need to paint the body '34 Ford truck: disliked the paintjob (orange peel), parts are sitting and waiting for assembly Numerous builds stalled on suspension engineering. Several stalled because I can't make up my mind on a direction--I have at least three potential cars I want to build for each, so each project seems to expand infinitely. Several stalled on lack of skill (paint, foil). Several stalled because I'm waiting to design and 3D print some parts for them. Etc etc.
Paul Payne Posted 11 minutes ago Posted 11 minutes ago BMF is my big bugaboo lately. I have several older models I BMF'd with great success but now I have a resin 62 Studebaker GT Hawk that is ready to go together- all except the BMF! Tried id it, ho luck, peeled it off, tried again- still no luck. Anyone out there who could do a good job?
89AKurt Posted 8 minutes ago Posted 8 minutes ago I'm glad someone else has the guts to resurrect "bring out your dead" that a passed member had for motivating us. It worked before, but I haven't done anything since the very last GSL. But I have been busy, been on a jag about collecting rocks to finish the yard, which has bled over into fixing up my California Pit Stop diorama (in my icon pic) with adding cool tiny scale rocks and fixing the grass. Glued some rocks on another diorama today. I have several WIP on the forum that ground to halt.
