Chariots of Fire Posted November 23 Posted November 23 I should have taken photos of what I started with but the box art will have to do. This tractor was built up but not in good condition so I took all the pieces down, cleaned them except for the frame, which was left dirty and built a dump version. The sleeper was removed, a new back wall for the cab built, fuel tanks cut down, tool box and air tank added, new mud flaps and a new body made of Evergreen sheet and strip stock was installed. The paint on the cab is Tamiya British green. Red is Duplicolor and the body is Duplicolor primer gray. The decals were printed on ALPS. Zoet Chrome pens cleaned up some of the smaller pieces and Fusion Film was used on the modified exhaust stack. The hoist is made of aluminum tubing and the tail gate opens with the handle next to the cab. A fun restoration for a change.☺️ 12
Biggu Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Holy , thats cool ! Fabulous conversion ! Dump box is spot on. Love it !
grodudulle77 Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Very nice build, finely detailed , it looks like it’s on 1/25 scale !! I really like this old Mack dump truck 😀👍
GLMFAA1 Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Nice build, At least there is some red on it, Thanks for the back story you told me, greg
Jim B Posted November 23 Posted November 23 (edited) Great looking Mack. Really well done. Where did the spokes come from? Edited November 23 by Jim B
BK9300 Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Nice rebuild and retro fit, Charles - always terrific detailing to look at!

Jim B Posted November 24 Posted November 24 I kind of figured that's where they came from, but I was wondering if maybe you had cast them or had them 3D printed from somewhere.

Could have cast them, Jim but I have so many parts boxes of these snap kits I just grabbed some. 3D printed is not something I even thought of.🙂
Rockford Posted November 25 Posted November 25 Fantastic job, great scratch building on the tipper. Whole thing looks just right.
Pete68 Posted November 27 Posted November 27 (edited) Beautiful build Charles. I like that dump bed. The Mack R pumper looks good as well. I have some 1/32 Don Mills Fire apparatus components I need to start using on some of the builds I’ve started. Edited November 27 by Pete68

Is this the cab you created? I’ve been thinking of buying one from Dave’s Models and building a grain truck. There’s still quite a few still running around here where I live. I caught this one the other day in town. I thought it had a cool paint scheme
Chariots of Fire Posted November 28 Author Posted November 28 Yes, it is, Lee. Dave should be able to supply you with the cab and all that goes with it. Here's another one I did using the same cab. 1

Thanks Charles I looked at it again the other day and I might get on after the Holidays I’m sure Dave is swamped right now. You did beautiful job on the Brush truck. I will probably make mine a Grain truck.
rekcirb13 Posted Friday at 03:43 PM Posted Friday at 03:43 PM Hi Charlie, You did a great job with this re-build! Is the dump body your own design or did you use factory drawings?

I saved it, brought it over into the graphics program and resized it to fit the model. Then used the image to make up the sides. Everything else went from there.

The hood may need a small amount of tweaking and the windshield area is unique. 1

I guess I’ll use the engine out of the scout I think that’s a 345 I drove a 1975 Loadstar when I was 17 for a local farmer hauling hay that had one in it. I had a 1970 international pickup that had a 304 and my dad’s 1975 International Pickup had the 345. Thanks for the tip. Edited 20 hours ago by Pete68
