curt raitz Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 This model presented a challenge to me..."Can I get Revell's flame decals in this kit to work?" The decals in this kit went down without any problem. My kudo's to Revell, their decals are getting better...actually do respond to a few decal setting solutions, primarily "Mr. Mark Setter" from Gunze Sangyo. After decals had set, I shot a couple coats of MM UltraGloss over the decals. I built this kit straight "outta-da-box" and I found this kit to be a pleasant surprise to build...a lot of chassis detail and everything fit quite nicely. I strayed away from the kit instructions regarding paint color for the chassis. Instructions called for semi-gloss black, I went with aluminum for better visibility when lookin' thru the glass. thanx for lookin'...
Bernard Kron Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 (edited) Because of the crummy box art I've tended to sell this model short. Lotsa very cool details and yummy parts. That aluminum paint sure does the business on the chassis... Nice one Curt! Edited June 17, 2009 by gbk1

The box art on this kit scared me away for the longest time, was quite surprised when I started playing with the parts after opening the box!
curt raitz Posted June 18, 2009 Author Posted June 18, 2009 Curt, really nice job on that kit.I have both, the '57 and '55 and also have the Soff Seal kit.I've yet to start on them though but by the looks of your's I can't wait to tear into them. Not trying to steal your idea as far as painting the frame and all that, but I'm going with the same paint scheme,it seems this is what it should be if you were building a 1:1 scale,to make it look like sheetmetal.Great job. I almost forgot to ask you this, did you mask around the windows to paint the black or is it freehand. Thanx - my free hand ain't what it used to be...I masked the glass, then sprayed Duplicolor Black Primer on the exposed surface.
MikeMc Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Nicely done Curt!! Looks like I'm gonna have to get out the '55
Harry P. Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Never understood how Revell could classify this one as a "Streetburner," either, seeing as how there's no DMV in the nation that would license a vehicle like this one!... Agreed! Why do they make boneheaded mistakes like that? Does anyone look at things before it goes into production? BTW... nice job on the model!
Guest promodmerc Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Now if they would just re-issue the Juke Box Ford and Christine that was prt of the Pro-Mod serries.
Dragline Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Much better than the box. Now we can see the potential of it. I think I have the Soff-Seal around here somewhere....................... Well done indeed my brother plastic fanatic... Bob Frias
ProStr33t Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Very nice.. i like the nitrous bottles, however I have noticed that not many people or kits include the nitrous selanoids and etc... very nice car regardless very clean
BigGary Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Maybe there should be a new adage: "Don't judge a book by its cover or a model kit by its box art". There's more than one kit I've ignored because of bad box art. Reviews in MCM are a lot more reliable. Gary
