RodBurNeR Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Now Harry can start griping... Haven't read it yet, but it looks great!
Harry P. Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Yup... mine should be here momentarily... as in 3 weeks from now!!!

george 53 Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Lee, that's caz them post guys KNOW that other mag ain't as GREAT as MCM!!! So they don't even bother with 'em! But, with MCM, well, what can I say? I'm STILL lookin forward to 12 issues a year.I Hope the guys can pull it off!
RodBurNeR Posted July 7, 2009 Author Posted July 7, 2009 I hear about them being torn or shredded up.....but mine always come nice and clean just like bought off the shelf! I wonder if it has anything to do with the machines at your PO's?
Foxer Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 mine takes about 2 weeks past the first to get it and it has to travel to New England. I has always arrived in near perfect condition. I expect the time is due to being passed through many transfer centers and still it arrives fine. Must be a few really bad processing machines out there tearing up mail.
samdiego Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I always thought it depended on how many articles the letter carrier wanted to read. Not that I mind waiting. If my rag can inspire some hobbyless mailman to buy a model kit and have at it then so be it!
Crazy Ed Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Got mine Monday also. No idea how long it was there as I haven't been to the Post Office since last Wed. For those that like Stude Customs check out Page 29 top Right for the most insane "Miss Deal" I've ever seen! Ed Erbeck Jr.
RodneyBad Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Dang, My LHS didn't get theirs in yet. But picked up a Lindberg Lil Red Wagon while I was there. I Couldn't just leave empty handed
Scott Colmer Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Got mine and it was beat up too. For some reason only my model mags get thrashed. S'up with that? What surprised me more was Brad Leisure's rendition of this drawing I posted here a year ago. That was pretty neat. Oh, way to go with the cover, Dave Scott Hosted on Fotki
george 53 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 (edited) Well it's Wednsday mornin, 9:05, I get me mail(usually, if Kenny's on the job)by 11:00. so hopefully I'll get it today. But I will let ya'll know HOW, or what kinda condition it's in when it does! Maybe we can kinda see WHO gets the torn up mags,an by hit or miss, we can narrow it down to a few or single mail depots. I'm in the Metro Detroit area, an I ALWAYS get mine torn up. I just tape'em back together with CLEAR shipping tape, THAT stuff is GREAT! Too bad they can't be printed on that stuff! But, Ill letcha's know how it got here. Edited July 8, 2009 by george 53
Harry P. Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I got mine not damaged for once last night......(sigh) Could we go back to shredded covers and late delivery times? I've found the content slipping badly. I spent under 5 minutes reading it, and just put it down. Not a single thing appealed to me in this issue. I'm not saying that to be a hater...heck I subscribe....but I'd have rather read the phone book. If you know the secret of how to make every article in every issue appeal to every reader every time, please let us know and we'll "fix" the magazine immediately!
Guest promodmerc Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I'll have to stop by my LHS and see if they have it. I had to let my subcription expire as I didn't have the $ due to a lot of $$$$$$ in car repairs the last two months. I shuold be able to reup in August.

I'm not saying that to be a hater...heck I subscribe....but I'd have rather read the phone book. Check out the other so-called mag and see what you find. WOW! Two whole pages of Birmingham coverage with a whopping 10 photos. I wonder what the use for paper. Recycled toilet paper? It's so thin you can darn near see through it.
crispy Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Would anyone be willing to pick up an extra July issue for me? I'll gladly pay the cost of the mag and shipping. I have no where around here to buy it. I have to get my sub in soon. There are a couple of articles in this mag I want to read. Please contact me via PM if you can help me out. Thanks! Chris
PlasticWagens Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Personally the mag is getting better every issue in my opinion. The "other" mag is the one deteriorating (not by any wrong doing, just the sign of the times). Keep up the good work, I will take mine tattered over nothing at all and I buy a second copy at the LHS because I have to have a crisp one for my collection.

PlasticWagens Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I've noticed summer tends to be a slack time for both the model car mags, as it does for the entire hobby in general. People tend to be doing other things besides building models _ and, by extension, writing about building models _ when the weather's nice. Hence the problem / reason the industry struggles (as most seasonal hobbies do).
Harry P. Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I've noticed summer tends to be a slack time for both the model car mags... Are you saying that the content of MCM has somehow fallen off lately? If so, please be specific. All comments/criticisms/feedback is welcome from all readers, because we really do try to make this magazine about you guys! If there's something we're not getting, or not doing well, or should be doing differently, etc. please let us know... at MCM we do take reader input seriously. Because without readers we wouldn't be here! Obviously we can't accommodate everyone's "wish list", but it's always good to get reader feedback.
Guest promodmerc Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 The one thing I would like to see is more kit reviews. That is the 1 thing the other mag has for it, more kit reviews. But look at the quality of reviews in MC compared to SAE. I'll take quality over quantity any day.
Harry P. Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Really? You think "If you know the secret of how to make every article in every issue appeal to every reader every time, please let us know and we'll "fix" the magazine immediately!" is an invitation for "welcome" feedback? I'm sure I'm way off base for feeling that may have a hostile tone. No hostility intended in my remarks... but I was responding to your comment: "Not a single thing appealed to me in this issue. I'm not saying that to be a hater...heck I subscribe....but I'd have rather read the phone book." Not a single thing appealed to you? Not even one???!!! Give me a few examples of the kind of feature that would appeal to you. Seriously. I'm not kidding. I'd love to know what kinds of features we're maybe missing or not running often enough. We try to mix it up pretty good, so that there's a little something for everyone, but if there's something specific you'd like to see, tell us.
Harry P. Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 The one thing I would like to see is more kit reviews. That is the 1 thing the other mag has for it, more kit reviews. We've talked about adding more reviews, but if we added more pages of reviews, that means something else has to go, or be cut back, and you can bet that whatever we decided to leave out to make room for more reviews would be someone else's favorite part! It's a balancing act to try and include a wide variety of columns and features and to try to appeal to the most readers, in a limited number of pages.
