george 53
WoW Walter Cronkite. I remember him from the CBS Evening News growing up. Him an the Huntley/Brinkley Report. Man I'm gettin old. How old was Walter? Musta been really up there, caz he'd been retired for years. Still, funny to see the folks I grew up with on TV all startin to pass. R.I.P. Mr. Cronkite, May God's Blessings go with you.

old low&slo
..."and that's the way it is"... man I was gonna say that. I remember watching him report the apollo moon landing. my whole family sat around the tube and watched it. and of course when JFK was shot. as far as newsmen go there wont be another like him. you always trusted him to get the straight dope on what was happening back then. roadhawg
man I was gonna say that. I remember watching him report the apollo moon landing. my whole family sat around the tube and watched it. Not just the moon landing, but ALL the space flights! I remember how he would use those plastic models to show how the thing separated and thought that was soooooo cool! No, they don't make 'em like Mr. Cronkite anymore. Thats a shame.
Modelmartin
And did you guys know that Walter was a car guy? Yes. He was a sports car enthusiast and he participated in SCCA races and such. Here and there in the 50s he wrote a few articles in the car magazines. He is missed.
ffreak
Yeah it's like a piece of my childhood is gone. He was always there to report both good and bad. I remember those reports as mentioned as well as the Vietnam reports. And likewise the Huntley-Brinkley Report. Man where does the time go..........
