Albert Moore Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Hi Gang, Here is my first completed build for the MCM forum (and my second car in an eight year period), Revell's 2008 Mustang Bullitt. Other than a different shifter, p/e CD in the player, better tires, flocking, and photo-reduced license plate w/ photo-etched frame, this was built out-of-box. The color is Model Master British Green Metallic (which I know is incorrect) with several coats of Testor's One Coat lacquer (which was decanted and applied with an airbrush). The in-prog thread can be found here. Thanks for looking, all critiques and comments welcomed. Cheers, Albert
crazyjim Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 It looks real good Albert. Where's "top of the mitt"?
James W Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 It's got a nice stance and the color is perfect if not 'correct'. Nice build, don't wait so long for the next one.
Albert Moore Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 It looks real good Albert. Where's "top of the mitt"? Thanks Jim! 'Tip Of The Mitt' is the northern most area of Michigan's lower peninsula. Cheers, Albert It's got a nice stance and the color is perfect if not 'correct'. Nice build, don't wait so long for the next one. Thanks for the kudos, James! Bob Downie's method for adjusting the ride height worked like charm (using business cards as a 'jack stand' of sorts to set the proper height). The next automobile up will be the new Shelby GT-500KR (for the missus, seeing this one is mine ). I hope to get started on it soon (I have helicopter build review to finish first). Cheers, Alby
crispy Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 That looks great. That stance is perfect. It may be the wrong color, but it fits and looks the part. Hope you'll share the 500 build with us as well. Chris
Abell82 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 The wheel and tire combo on this is EXCELLENT!! Are these the kit's wheels? You state that you used better tires, what tires did you use? Great build!
Albert Moore Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 Looks great, and love the ride height Thanks for the kind comments Bob, and thank you for the article you did on fixing some of the bugaboos with these newer Mustang kits! The tips came in really handy. That looks great. That stance is perfect. It may be the wrong color, but it fits and looks the part. Hope you'll share the 500 build with us as well. Chris Thank you Chris! I will definitely share the in-prog build of the KR build. I have the kit and the paint ready to go (Grabber Orange- that what color the boss wants hers ). Cheers, Albert
Albert Moore Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 The wheel and tire combo on this is EXCELLENT!! Are these the kit's wheels? You state that you used better tires, what tires did you use? Great build! Hi Jason, Thanks for the kudos! The rims came from the Bullitt kit while the tires came from AMT's F&F Toyota Supra kit (thanks to Dave Zinn for the heads-up on the 'Yota tires). The raised tire retainers on the rims needed to be removed in order to fit the Supra tires properly, an easy and painless modification which greatly enhanced the overall appearance. Cheers, Albert
Randy Kern Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Wow, Albert, that came out beautiful! I also don't care about correct paint colors, as long as you like it. I have to agree, you got the stance perfect. Those Bullitt wheels look great, plus the paint and detailing really stand out. Very nice!
Chuck Most Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 (edited) Great job- particularly on the stance! The Revell Mustangs have always suffered from the too tall stance and those ###### featureless, clunky truck tires! And the paint may not be correct, but it looks the part anyway! I sure wish Ford would stop making Dark Highland Green unavailable on non-Bullitt Mustangs! I wanted to buy a 1:1 Bullitt last summer- I could have afforded the payments AND insurance, but I'd probably be flat broke when the time came to gas up! Plus, I didn't want to spend another three years at my job to pay it off! I'll settle for my Revell rendition for now! Edited August 18, 2009 by Chuck Most
Albert Moore Posted August 19, 2009 Author Posted August 19, 2009 Thanks for the kudos, Randy, Dave, and Chuck. Given the outstanding the work I see here I'm glad that the Bullitt is well received. Cheers, Albert
