Greg Cullinan Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 They are on model express for $16. I wasn't that interested in them til now. Now I'm thinking if I want to keep modeling into my 60's(I'm 36 now,god willing) I should buyevery kit I can get my hands on and afford before there all gone. Better stock up on glues,paint,assesories.etc.
Casey Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Well, in the start of this Rommel's Rod reconstruction when Moebius Models was going to it, Tom had said that it would be a much nicer kit than before, and the skeletons would be corrected. When Revell took over, and reverse engineered the original kit, and only changing a few small things for the better. Wait, what!? Moebius was working on creating an all-new version of the Rommel's Rod kit?

unclescott58 Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 (edited) One of my favorite Daniel's kits. I love the way mine turn out. I built this one about two or three years ago. Edited March 6, 2018 by unclescott58
Mr mopar Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 If you want to get the kit close to what it use to be ,you need the Monogram Mercedes 540k cabriolet for the grill ,valve cover and other parts with the name brand on them . these parts fit prefect .

And no wonder. According to Tom Daniel himself: "Monogram actually had a Mercedes SSK kit in stock, so we just added the other (Rommel) tooling to that to make the kit." Quoted in Scotty Gosson's fantastic book "Show Rod Model Kits." The book is a great read full of fun history and trivia.
Mike999 Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 An idea I had for this kit. I might de-Rommelize it (sacrilege, I know). And make a fictional German version of a Sahara Desert exploration vehicle. Like the Citroen trucks fitted with the Russian Kegresse half-track system, used to explore the Sahara in the 1920's and 30's. These were so loaded with gear you can barely see what the vehicle looked like. Will have to check Michael's and Hobby Lobby for a 1/24 scale camel...
unclescott58 Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 I felt a need to add a couple of more pictures here of mine. A little more detail.
89AKurt Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 I built this several years ago. It went together good enough. One of the flag decals is printed reverse, does not match the shape of the plastic. This is one of the few models I built box stock. The one piece track/wheels drives me nuts, would kit bash a real tank or halftrack set if I ever did this again.
Modelbuilder Mark Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 VERY nice, I like it. I had one back in the 70s, but not since.
