HOLY MOLEY !!! you got some nice vettes man, and thats an understatement. you guys have convensed me to get back into building mine. i'm thinkin' that i'm gonna do arctic white and black wheels, black interior, and the supercharger with red accents such as the calipers and the covers on the engines. do you have any detailed engine pics ?

Here is my one and only regular Vette.

I shot it with Tamiya TS-39 Mica Red. I striped the rims, and re-shot them with Alclad 2 Polished Aluminum.

All the Vettes in this thread are just downright beautiful! I was thinking about a '69 Camaro as my first build in a long time, but now I'm torn between that and a Vette.

Bill

wow man you did a really nice job on that vette. i love that color. thanks for the engine pic. BTW did you blackwash those brakes?

Scott

wow those three vettes look cool. i like the white one

Jayc

my first model car was a 69' camaro. it's a nice kit and a good starter kit.

Thanx everyone for the pics and i can't wait to see more :D;) ;)

Here's mine, built as a Cannonball car specifically for night time high speed running.

It's been criticized for a lack of exterior detail but the whole point was for the car to be non-reflective and hard to see at night.

I wanted to add some outside shots of my one and only regular Vette. The ones I posted earlier that were taken inside did not do the Mica Red justice.

Billy,

Be aware of a slight fit problem with that kit. The front wheel on the driver's side is nor perfectly centered in the wheel well. You need to enlarge the mounting hole so you can move the wheel/brake assembly forward about 1/16" maybe a hair more.

I'm curious about the supercharger you mention. Which one do you plan to use?

Regards,

Regards,

thanks for the tip man. the supercharger is from the GT500KR revell kit. it fits well and it should give it a good amount of power.

looks like this one except i'll be using the stock corvette covers:

i like the 1:1 hood on it, but i won't be modifying it on the 1:24. the supercharger actually sits lower that the stock intake

Cool!

That's interesting. I started scratchbuilding a supercharger a long time ago, (actually for a C5) but this may save me some time....

Thanks,

Yes, I did slightly blackwash the brake discs on that one. The wheels were also stripped of their chrome, airbrushed with Alclad lacquer black, then airbrushed with Alclad chrome.

I thought the kit wheels were just too shiny of a chrome to represent the 1:1, but the Alclad chrome gives them more of a highly polished aluminum look.

Ismael's right about the kooky wheel placement on the driver's side :P

Here's a couple pics where I got out my dial calipers to confirm this to myself when I was building mine............

Note how the wheel would be about .10†rearward than the other side!……….this is the driver's side we’re looking at.

As you can see by my built up pics that problem was cured. :D
