von Zipper Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Any body remember the bumper sticker that came on AMT decal sheets " I LOVE MODEL CARS " ? I wonder if any body makes them for our 1:1 vehicles ?? I'd buy a couple.... Cecil
Foxer Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 (edited) I remember, though a bit worn over the years. I didn't look too hard, but there are many custom bumper sticker sites where you could have some made. Edited October 15, 2009 by Foxer

Hint: I've thought about doing the same sort of weathering/rust on a Corvette
george 53 Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Zoomer, You talkin 'bout how the rear bedsides of that Cameo truck are FIBERGLASS? It probly WOULDN'T be noticed on THAT caz lottsa folks probly don't know they had fiberglass fenders, BUT a Vette, well, I think THAT would be noticed!!! Of course, WEREN'T the VERY FIRST ones actually made of steel,BEFORE they went to "glass bodies? That might be cool!
BigGary Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 (edited) I don't think Fiberglass rusts that bad... About a year ago there was a post on another forum where a modeler had botched the job on a '53 Vette and decided to do a rust/weather job on it. He did a great job of rust/weather, but forgot that Vettes are fiberglass. I just had to remind him about that. Gary Edited October 15, 2009 by BigGary

Maybe some of the Motorama cars were, I don't know, but all production cars were fiberglass-bodied. Which, of course, makes a die-cast model 'vette with a plastic chassis and a metal body something right out of Jerry Seinfeld's "Bizzarro World"...

Foxer Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 (edited) I should never post images of this truck without my normal lead in .. from my Under Glass post: INSPIRATION: This appears to be an early prototype of the Cameo with steel rear fenders. Obviously, fiberglass was the right choice of material for the production model! On second thought, I LOVE posting pictures without a word! George is the only one that defended me .. you da man! and Zipper.. didn't mean to steal your thread .. anyone used any of those sites to order custom bumper stickers? Edited October 16, 2009 by Foxer
Chuck Most Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 I should never post images of this truck without my normal lead in .. I just assumed that somebody had cobbled up a Cameo using '58-'59 Fleetside panels. Yeah. That's what I thought...
