Hello, Tim!

I'm having trouble accessing www.timstrucks.com. I don't know if it's my issue, but wanted to let you, and others on the forum, know.

Now returning you all to your regularly scheduled program...

The company I pay for server space/hosting made an upgrade to their system earlier in the month.

When it came time to upgrade my server my website went Poof! gone.

Even though they claim full back-ups and 24 hour customer service, all I have receives is lip service from "technicians" who know less about the server and system than I do.

I am having to reload the entire website, over 85 pages and all the photographs. I have been reloading for over 24 hours (keep getting timed out after 3-4 hours) so some pages are coming back.

I have no idea when it will be fully operational.

Some pages are working fine, such as This one andthis one. But none of my model related pages are back at this time (4:50pm 11/26/09).

I have better things to do (like prepare the January Trucker's Corner column) than keep working on this reload.

I am not amused.

Thanks for the heads-up/update about your website. Wow, yet another "success" story vis-a-vis one's web host/provider. I would not be too amused myself! When you rely on them, technology and tech support is just fantastic, until they're not.

More pages are returning as I continue to re-upload them

I will have to go through all 90 pages and correct dead links and URL errors that point to incorrect locations - that will take me some time to fix. There are bunches of page links pointing to "..site.." links - these pages will load, but are old outdated versions of the correct page.

The madness continues....

As of 7:00PM eastern 11/27 my site is back up.

There are links that are bad on quite a few pages that I need to fix, but for the most part it is back. If you had bookmarked my site, you will need to re-do the bookmark as http://www.timstrucks.com

Exactly what I said. It took my computer over 36 hours to re-upload the darned thing.

The host service says "we still have some problems and we are working on them."

Who is your host server out of curiosity.

Talking to other users of the service who have tried the "you owe me" line - the company ignores their requests.

This company had a great reputation and service until earlier this year from what I've been reading on line. Now everyone complains about the service and up-time.

At least they talk to you. I had to move my geocities site over to Yahoo (Yahoo killed off Geocities), it has been a month that my site has been down and they still haven't answered any of my emails regarding the fact it hasn't transferred over like they said it would and their "customer service" only answers the phone 9-5 M-F. :)

Ignore my a...! If this site was critical for a business for example, you don't know how much income it would have cost you. I myself would threaten to use another host if they didn't reimburse me. Your personal time is valuable too.

Hi Tim,

They may ignore individuals, but they seem willing to respond to complaints filed through the Better Business Bureau. I had great sucess with the BBB in waking up Dell to an issue they tried to ignore.

Might be worth a shot.

It was easier to get this back up than find a new host service and transfer the domain names and such.

Besides, I'm paid until next year and they will not refund prepayments.

Whatever happened to service?

It seems like these days, your lucky if you get a smile out of someone who is taking your money, but for them to actually give any kind of service seems to be a thing of the past. Its just a shame. I say lets go back to paddling kids and putting the fear of God into them, but thats a different thread altogether.

Sorry to hear about your website Tim, it is one of my favorites for sure.

Tim,

I'm please to hear that you are sorting things out. These Hocus Pocus providers seem to be a law unto themselves these days. Not much we can do about it since they all seem to be from the same mould.

Things would not be the same without "Tim's Trucks"!
