Yeah back when those guys did it constantly in a race and it was called just a "regular run" :D

Now the Matra mmmhmm, one of my all time favorite videos

and yes, can't forget the bikes.

Now I love my sports car racing and touring cars but NOTHING, even rally can come close to these guys, these guys are true racers, true riders, and have the passion of what racing is all about, I am talking about the Isle of Man TT, when it comes to bike sounds, here you go

Since we are on to bikes, here is a goody and Tamiya is coming out with the kit shortly. OH YAY!!!

RC166

Ther are a few good Moto Guzzi 500cc V8 clips on youtube also.

Fun stuff! a most excellent way to waste a pile of time! :D

Now these gas engines sound good, but what about a big diesel engine? I love the sound of a diesel rev'n up and black smoke puring out of the exhaust like a freight train. Or like :

This is the best...if I ever follow through on my proposal to get a Slant 6-powered anything, this modification is a very real possibility.

Just think, if Mother Mopar had adopted this, we might have been blessed with this engineering wonder for many more years instead of that awful cut-down 318.

Nothing like the sound of a V-12 at full song! Who needs music when you got all 12 cylinders firing away in such unison?

Unless it's a late '70's Jag, in which case it's a series of muted fart sounds, then wind rushing as you coast to the shoulder!

Ah those big cam v8s always sound like they are just barely even running on half it's cylinders and will sputter out at any second.

That's because big cam V8s usually are barely running on half their cylinders and about to sputter out at any second.

While I do love the sound of the Italians. From the scream of the Ferraris to the Banchee howl of a Lambo Countach. The sound on the link below really gets the heart pumping

I would have loved to have heard the old Can-Am cars in person. Monster Aluminum Big-Block Chevy!!

Ferrari V12 are awsome, however the sound of a 427 Ford in a GT40 screaming down the Mulsanne straight

is something to behold also!!!!!

As is a Hilborn injected 427 Cammer in an AF/X car blasting the quarter mile!!

Here is twist to this thread! ;) Here are some great sounding engines......in scale!

and my fave

And here is one that I can't decide whether it is dumb or cool!!

I couldn't help it. Here is another one. Only 24 cylinders!!

:o that is hands down.......THE BEST COMMERCIAL EVER!!!!!!!! I am so glad I use V Power in my GTI

You realize you just summed all this up right there? No really, you did :P All those engines were and are epic.

Dale Watts, that's good and those 131's are something else.

Dale Beaver, yeah I know, you keep reminding me! All those you got to see and hear. And those pics you posted up :D are good ones. That BMW engine is wicked, yeah isn't it the F1 motor? Although I agree with Chris, they just don't have the passion.

Andy, I love V12's, V8's, V10's all of them but I've seen a couple videos of this and indeed for it's side it has the PERFECT sound ever. I would kill to have this thing fly by me at full speed on Silverstone, Spa, or Nurburgring! It sent chills up my spine....again!

OMFG!!!!!!! That was SO cool!

I gotta vote for an underdog or two.

The Ford Kent crossflow four cyl. used in Mk I&II Escort rally cars and Formula Fords.

The 1.6 and 1.8 liter Mazda fours placed in Miatas. Absolute joy in internal combustion.

I also like a nicely cammed - VW 1.8Liter - without mufflers - at about 5500 to 7000 RPM. I am convinced it is in this combination that the hid the "fahrfurnugen generator" but had to take its edge off for the common public.

A nice large displacement normally aspirated small-block chevy with 180degree headers is also music at aobut 7500rpm.

Check these model engines out. Nothing like a Moki.

I had two 1992 1.8 A2 Jettas (both white) and a Mk2 Scirocco (A/C car without a sun-roof).

I have always wanted an A2 Golf four door 8V with a 272 Schrick cam and intake and exhaust mods. Maybe a mild port job - and unshroud the valves. Nice coil-overs - big ass swaybars - some 944 15x7 phone-dials in dark graphite. Body in Olive drab. Fabbed airdam. Cibie driving lamps. No fender well moldings. I like the rats!

:P :P ;):o :o :o:blink: the guys over at VW Vortex would LOVE you! You certainly know your stuff. That is a hell of a plan! here's mine, not quite all you explained but am going with a cam, crossflow aba head with carbs, header and phone dials would be sweet! I am getting a pair of PIAA rallye lights since Cibie's are hard to find.

this isn't a recent shot, I have a Scottish plate. I do have coilovers though!

343,000 miles and still strong!

I'm a member of the VWvortex but since I no longer have a Dub - I don't log on much.

That Golf looks great. How much do you have in it? If you have less then $2010 - drive it down to Gainesville and enter it in the GRM Challenge. It is a GREAT event. You can always fudge the budget a little bit.

I spent $600 for it,

Recaro Trophey's: $150 bought from a friend so he could buy a compressor to help with my other friend and us shaving his engine bay

Raceland coilovers: $360 new

Luminics lights: $40 new

Grille and smoked e code round crosshairs: $150 new

Scottish plate: $30 new

custom exhaust: $210

so I have a tad over $1500 in it so far so I got plenty for my engine but I can tweak that. She came with a Neuspeed front strut bar.

I plan on making the trip although it would be more fun to go with someone.
