John Teresi Posted December 28, 2009 Author Posted December 28, 2009 was that after the E.J. Potter bikes?? nice build!! DON`T KNOW?.....I REALLY DON`T KNOW WHO E.J. POTTER IS?......NO DISRESPECT.
Eric Stone Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 DON`T KNOW?.....I REALLY DON`T KNOW WHO E.J. POTTER IS?......NO DISRESPECT. Here is some info, more specifically detailing his book, but it give you an idea of what he is/was about. http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2006/05/08/ej-potter-michigan-madman/
jeffs396 Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 John, we can all learn something from you! Kevin Drake(another fine model builder) is from your area, do you know him?
weasel Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 DON`T KNOW?.....I REALLY DON`T KNOW WHO E.J. POTTER IS?......NO DISRESPECT. none taken... i'm an old fart!! way back, at Edgewater Drag Strip, i saw him run that thing, 1st bike with a V8 that i'd ever seen!! it was wild, he'd stage it on the rear stand, tach up the motor and rollll off the stand to spin the tire so it wouldn't bog out!! imagine that!!
Chuck Most Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 DON`T KNOW?.....I REALLY DON`T KNOW WHO E.J. POTTER IS?......NO DISRESPECT. No, E.J. was known for running Chevy engines on his bikes. I grew up in the same town as he did- the stories you hear are legendary! Yeah- he did a rocket bike, and some Allison V-12 machines, but I don't recall a Buick Bike from the house of E.J. Great build!
Sixties Sam Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Wow! What a beast! There's no way I could ride a monster like that, but your model is great! Really well done! Sam
Dragline Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Killer build John. It's begging for a set of PE rims. Bob
RatRod Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 (edited) Very cool John!!! As a big bike fan, I love it!!! Here is a few pics of E.J. Potters bike, he ran an injected small block Chevy with direct drive, they would let him wind it up, and push it off the stand, thus the moniker "The Michigan Madman" Edited December 28, 2009 by RatRod
rustybill1960 Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 wow did you say "scratch built"!?!?!?! wow Thanks for sharing Dude later Russ
garryrenfro Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Incredible!! This is a very inspirational build. I have always wanted to build a V8 drag bike; now maybe I will.
whale392 Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Very nice build indeed! Being born and spending 11 years of my life in Michigan, I knew who E.J Potter was (my dad was and still is a drag racer) and yes, some of the stories of his antics are legendary here in the mid-west. Your dad and uncle seem to be in the same vein as he was........crazy!!
