Danger Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 (edited) Here are some shots of a 1977 Volare Road Runner that I finished on Xmas Eve for a present to a friend. He owned the car many moons ago. The model had to be changed from a t-top to a hardtop. The engine has been wired, valve covers and air cleaner replaced with aftermarket parts. Hoses from the parts bin and a fire extingisher. Hood pins were added and are functional. Rims came from the parts bin. The interior had the steering wheel altered from a 3 spoke to a 2 spoke, additional gauges (tach & oil), front and rear speakers and seat belts and of course the Road Runner logo. The interior is white with blue seat covers. The exterior colour is custom mixed from Big Bad Blue and Classic White to resemble the original paint. The chrome was stipped and Alclad was used on the grill, bumpers and window trim. An antennae was added at the end. Decals are from Keith Marks and look wonderful. Enjoy, and feel free to comment. Railfreak78 Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Nice looking Road Runner there. I've always liked this body. Neat color too!
Dragline Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Striking color. Never saw one in real life this color. That took some sack to order it that way. Bob
Jared Roach Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Now that's a nice lookin road runner. The guy across the street from me has one that's black with gold stripes and cragers. These are some pretty good lookin cars! Good job and I especially like the color.
RodneyBad Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Looks Great. Motor looks Great too. Nice work..
Casey Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Nice job! I like the color. Me, too. It's my favorite color on the Mopar F-bodies: I own a '77 Aspen wagon so I am a bit partial to F-bodies, but I like the "spoilered and decaled" mid-to-late '70s cars, and the Aspen R/T and Volare RR certainly fit that bill.
Wayne Buck Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 That turned out really nice! The engine looks great and I love the color!
Harry P. Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 You might want to check on what's keeping the hood from closing. The aftermarket air cleaner, maybe?
Foxer Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 I've never even seen this kit. Very nice job on the build! I'm sure you're going to have a happy friend.
Danger Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 The hood does close. The head of the pin is a little tight going through the hood pin. Almost snaps in place. I had it all the way on twice but left it off when I took the pictures.
John Goschke Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Really nice build of an unusual subject!
Rider Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 (edited) That's cool looking, you've done a real nice job on it, I like the under hood detail. I actually had the real thing as it is on the box art. Now if I can only find a kit of it. Edited December 30, 2009 by Plastic Freak
ModelGuy(Mike) Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Where did you get the Ontario plates from?
Harry P. Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 The hood does close. The head of the pin is a little tight going through the hood pin. Almost snaps in place. I had it all the way on twice but left it off when I took the pictures. Cool. Very nice model, BTW. I love seeing things that you don't see every day, and this one sure does qualify as an "oddball!"
Bruno Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Great job Adam! I really got to get that kit...
charlie8575 Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Very nice build. Spinnaker Blue is a pretty color; I'd have probably ordered my car in that. As to the kit, speaking of "I'd like to see this re-issued..." Charlie Larkin
Nick Notarangelo Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Volare whoa whoaho sorry I couldnt resits it Nice job on the car and year thats a odd ball one I like to see more of
