Guest promodmerc Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 For as long as I have been using mine for the life of me it will not draw Tenax or Ambroid (or any liquid for that matter)into the tube. Maybe I'm putting the wrong end as I put the needle end in. Should it be the tube end? The only was I can get Tenax or Ambroid it up the tube is by using it like a straw which I know is not good.

Pete J. Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I know what you mean. Yes, I used mine like a straw for a long time and I do not recommend that to anyone because solvent glues are really nasty stuff. I would recommend a syringe. You can drill out the end to fit and then use that to draw the glue.

mr moto Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 (edited) Try putting the tube end in. The liquid cement will rise up a short distance into the tube depending on how deep it is in the bottle. Then turn the applicator so it's needle end down and the cement flows down to the tip. You're ready to go! No need to use it for a straw. Don't do that!! p.s. If the cement doesn't rise up in the tube it means the needle is clogged. That's a much tougher problem! jeffb Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 i like how they work..when they work. they seem to clog very easily. if the tip gets clogged, let it sit in the glue up past the metal tip. then the solvent will melt the clog. but all my applicators seem to fall off the bench onto the hardest part of the floor..resulting it a very very short applicator...
Gregg Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I've had one for years, never been able to use it. Thanks, guys. I will try this tonight. Maybe there's hope for da kahuna after all! (You mean you won't have to build only snap kit models anymore?) dooooohhhhhh
george 53 Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Just put your finger OVER the hole in the end of the glass tube, put it in the glue, an take your finger off the end, the glue will flow up into the needle and into the glass tube.

I'm going to have to try it the next time I need to use it. I'm diabetic but have never tried using a syringe for glue. They really shoot a powerful stream, so I'd suspect getting a small amount out might be a problem. Let us know how it goes if you try it.

Id worry about it melting the body or the lurlok...don't use a plunger
wayneman Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 I have a cat that I have to give the shots to twice a day. I save the used needles and have had great luck with them. You do have to be easy and they are only good for a short period of time before the plastic inside starts to become bonded itself. I wanted to use the touch n flow and ordered two of them. I had no luck with either one. Now that I have read the comments I may give them another try (since I ended up breaking both applicators that I ordered, I will wait until I have another order up )

No it will work better for a time...then the plunger seal or the plastic mount around the needle will let go. From my old "bench" days I still have 2 20cc glass syringes..they work ok but are just too messy. I have been using a micro brush (yellow) to apply tenax and have been happy.
jeffb Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 what woeks well for me is a 6 inch aluminum tube, the smaller the better. i use it like a pipette. it dosent lay as fine a line of glue as does the flow stick, but it do do the job.

Longbow Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 (edited) Mine works okay I put the glass end into the glue & it wicks up for one to two inches ,which is allot of glue. When it gets clogged up usually from touching the melted seem of plastic I just flick my bic lighter to the tip & it clears right up. Same here man, never had a problem either with Tenax or Ambroid!!
wayneman Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 I had reponded to this thread before and explained how I use syringes. I have always had good luck with them and have had a couple of Touch n Flow applicators that never worked for me. As it turned out I made an order to Micro Mark and needed some more glue. I thought I would try once more and purchased the Same Stuff glue that came with a Touch n Flow. My problem before was the PlastStruct glue. The "Same Stuff" glue works great in the applicator and if it becomes clogged I just let it sit in the glue a little longer and it works fine. - Just my experience. Hope it helps.

HAVEN'T USED MY tOUCHAND FLOW APLICATOR SINCE I STARTED USING THE syringe. it will drip out slowly oryou can just dispense it like any syringe works.
