Brizio Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Some days ago I start to play with this old MPC, probably from the 60's... It is very nice, nice plastic, you can build it in 3 way, I will choose to build it like the box art. And hopeful still using the original decals, but I'm thinking to paint the stripe. The box... Love those old kit... With the news paper instructions size... I think also to build it straight out of the box. But I prefer to paint the stripes, instead to use the decals. Chassis and wheels done... The brand on the wheels are painted. The body almost ready, need a flat black under and upper it.
Blake Rogers Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 neat man what kind of engine is in it ?
RodneyBad Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Looks like it's gonna be a cool looking jeep..
Brizio Posted February 28, 2010 Author Posted February 28, 2010 Thank you guys! The engine is a V6 Dauntless, you can build it in two option, stock or with a 4-BBL and custom headers (the combination I will use on it). Soon I'll post the pics of the engine, I'm gonna to paint it in metalic green, like the original one.
Railfreak78 Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Cool old Jeep I really like the tire and wheel combo it came with.
oldscool Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Ooooh! I love that kit! Had one when I was a kid and it came with a ton of options including a snowplow. Had a buddy that kept calling it the Baja Blister oldscool
coopdad Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Cool kit, hadn't seen that one. Keep posting pix as you build. John
Blake Rogers Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 i think u need a 350 in her man lmao i can't wait to see it man hurry!!!! lmao
Joe Handley Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 i think u need a 350 in her man lmao i can't wait to see it man hurry!!!! lmao Nah, don't ruin another Jeep by sticking a Shivvy motor in it, it's gotta have an AMC motor or maybe atleast a Chrysler motor
jbwelda Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 lookin good so far! need to get some dirt on those tires though!
Alyn Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Nah, don't ruin another Jeep by sticking a Shivvy motor in it, it's gotta have an AMC motor or maybe atleast a Chrysler motor That V6 is a GM motor. I had the same engine in a 63 Buick Special convertible back in my teen days. Jeep bought the rights to the engine and used it in the CJ a few years later. Most Jeep guys would rather have the 4-banger than this engine.

Had a buddy that kept calling it the Baja Blister oldscool Yep, the same kit! You can build it stock, the buggy and "service" that has the snow plow. About the engine, I'll build this kit straight out of the box, so I'm using the V6 with the 4-BBL. If I will chose another engine, off course i would prefer on it a AMC, maybe a 401... Next kit... Thank you guys for looking!
Brizio Posted March 1, 2010 Author Posted March 1, 2010 Very Cool! I am digging this build Thank you! I shoot two hand of clear gloss this morning, and also painted the seat.

One difference though, that is a Buick motor, not a belly button Chevy motor
Brizio Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 The kit has also a tool box, I think it is supposed to go with the "Service", one of the 3 way to build this kit. But I think it would bee col also on the Dune Buggy, just in case... You know "It is a Jeep things"... So painted, and decided to put those MPC decals, that I never know what to do with it...
ScrappyJ Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Nice build you have going. I liked those old MPC kits, but I haven't seen this one either. Can't wait to see it finished.
Brizio Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 Nice build you have going. I liked those old MPC kits, but I haven't seen this one either. Can't wait to see it finished. Thank you! Finally I'm done with it. I had a lot of fun and it is kind of a miracle for me, see a model done in around 10 days... ;D Also if it is straight out of the box required a lot of works, above all for paint the body. Like I said I didn't used the white stripes for the body, because the decals were so old, and fragile, so I preferred to paint all the stripes. But I used the number and the two sponsor decals, that they are still working pretty good, and unfortunately they shown their age... But I think it is not to bad... Soon I'll take more and better pics...
Brizio Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 what no engine shot I will take more pics soon, also about the engine compartment.
