Blake Rogers Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 well here are some shots i am working with. first problem is i don't have the right wheels for it but ill look around for a pair second issue is the seat pattern. any ideas? i am going to try and stuff a Hemi in to it but i might just stick with the stock motor i don't know yet. now these photo's are not of a runner but of a satellite same car and his guys car had a 318 in her sooooo i don't know what is going to happen just yet.
diymirage Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 i love that car 74 right ? as soon as the wifey starts making moneys that is the one that i will get seen on on the bay just last weekend with a 440+6 in it yummie but i digest what wheels are you looking for...the stock steelies ? i should have a set from the 68 charger...might be the same ? also, are you planning on painting the headlight bezels white ? not my most favorite part on the car to be honoust here is one i build from the AMT 74 GTX kit
george 53 Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Blake, I think the hardest part is gonna be finding a FLAT hood! All the MPC kits of that model had scooped hoods air grabber hoods or bulged hoods but no flat ones. Those look like plain ol steelies. Try Vaughn Hart at Vhandyhart@ aol.com for a bench seat. He has ALL kindsa Mopar parts that he casts, and he's REAL good! As far as the upholstery patterns try the decals from Scale Motor Sports, they have a great selection of patterns. Looks like plain ol flat black'll do for the color! Hope this helps.
dwc43 Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Someone makes the flat hood in resin so you can make NASCAR cars out of them. I'll see if I can find the link.
Blake Rogers Posted March 9, 2010 Author Posted March 9, 2010 (edited) well guys thank you for your help. the headlight bezels do look white don't they diymirage ? the flat hood dwc43/George i was thinking of shaving off the bulge don't know yet lol found this site http://www.lhmopars.com/Nats-BBody4.htm not bad Edited March 9, 2010 by moparfan426
Guest Sickfish Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Blake if you're going hard on the details for this 'Runner ( satellite ) & want to stuff a Hemi in it then might i suggest, if you have this kit or can get it, you use the chassis/engine bay/ Hemi out of the AMT '71 Charger muscle machine kit ( orange on the box ). Eveything will slot under the Runner with minimal fuss & you'll have a way better build, well more detailed anyway. Cheers & good luck mate, Cliffo!
Casey Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 It looks like the annodizing on the headlight bezels has deteriorated, and the camera's flash makes them look white when illuminated. It's hard to see what the upholstery looks like, but I second George's suggestion of Scale Motorsport if it's plaid. That car is missing the headrests, though. It's hard to see the wheels in shadow when everything's black, too.
Blake Rogers Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 (edited) oh by the way guys what you think about using those little air scopes from the Daytona kit and put them in that big blank spot on both sides of the car behind the glass on the doors ??? Edited March 10, 2010 by moparfan426
SSNJim Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 It looks like the annodizing on the headlight bezels has deteriorated, and the camera's flash makes them look white when illuminated. My guess is that they are painted silver, and were never chrome/anodized. That looks like a pretty base level car, and the only chrome on it would be the bumpers. The grill and headlights both look painted, which wasn't uncommon during that time frame. I don't have any references handy, but a few minutes researching original brochures would verify or debunk it.
Eric Stone Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 oh by the way guys what you think about using those little air scopes from the Daytona kit and put them in that big blank spot on both sides of the car behind the glass on the doors ??? I'm not sure exactly where you mean, but NO SCOOPS! Just my opinion...
Blake Rogers Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 Eric i hear ya but take a second look
RodneyBad Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 The scoops are 50/50 Mustangs had them. Are the wheels just steel wheels? Can't see them from here either. My X g/f had a black 73 had red interior. Nice GTX Eelco i like the painted out spokes.
dwc43 Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 This must have been the one I saw with the flat hood. I don't think it's in there parts section. Might e mail them and see if they will make you just a hood. If there's another site with a flat hood, I must have misplaced the link for it. http://www.compresins.com/site/751597/product/CR-8002

My X g/f had a black 73 had red interior. Nice GTX Eelco i like the painted out spokes. i think the scoops are a bad idea and i will tell you why look at the angle of the roof...it comes down at what 35 degrees ? now look at the angle of the scoops you want to put on, they are almost 90 it just doesnt flow im not against puttin scoops on per se BUT i am definatly against putting THOSE scoops on because they dont flow zuki mentioned the scoops on mustangs, they looked good because they are part of the design and they look like they belong there i bet if you get a set of those they would look much better on this car thanks for the compliments on the GTX i actually only bought the kit because it was on sale for 5 bucks at micheals and then i just fell in love with it i have another one in my stash i have been looking for a 73-74 GTX or roadrunner latetly as my daily driver only a few more months and the wifey will start making money and a musclecar will be my first big expense steel wheels they are zuk am going to go with a tan/cream color interior engine is still up in the air.the engine from the Johnny lighting Challenger? hemi from the Daytona kit from johnny lighting? as well or the the one the kit came with the kit? no idea!!! lol i'll take any one of those engines as a trade for the wheels i got them packed up and ill have the wifey drop em of at the postoffice later what wheels came with the kit, just the stock ralleys ? if it came with some nice aftermarkets i wouldnt mind that but i have so many of the ralleys just look at my ford F-100 the truck, trailer and all 4 spares are on mopar ralleys
Blake Rogers Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 that's funny you must love the rally's eh i do to. ill look for those engines there around some were lol thanks to everyone about those scoops i kept looking at the car for hours lol you know if i had that daytona wing i would put it on mine to i think there is a company that does 1:1 cars like that i ll have to look them up and post the link on here for everyone

Blake Rogers Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 http://www.71wingcars.com/page.aspx?id=1 i know its for 71 cars but i can see later cars being done
diymirage Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 once i clear of the workbench i will start a comunity build project for winged warriors any car would be allowed as long as it was a period correct mopar and you put the wing on it only two exceptions...seeing how the charger and challenger were period correct and the newer models are based on those i would allow recent charger and challenger ASLONG as they have the wing
Blake Rogers Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 sounds cool did you look at the site? i love the work those two do
