my name is nobody Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 your engine detail looks quite good. very realistic. I just saw an engine like this, oddly enough, sitting in a Ford Sedan: This is a very cool model your building.
Ryan S. Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Ryan, the air cleaner is a resin peice from Replicas and Miniatures Co. of Md. The valve covers came from there too. Thanks!! Awesome to know. Thanks a bunch!
Alyn Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 very nice work on the details.. The trunk latch is a nice touch. The interior is beautify; worthy of open doors or convertible.
Tommy Kortman Posted October 23, 2010 Author Posted October 23, 2010 (edited) I'm sorry that it's been so long since I've updated this thread. It sucks when real life interfears with your hobby. Anyway, I,ve been able to make some small progress on the coupe. The grille and headlights are in, the glass is in, and the interior has been installed. Here are some recent shots. The grille is a P/E peice from Model Car Garage. It is a royal pain to get right. I used the kit grill as a buck so I could get the compund curve correct. "Now where did I put that scale English wheel?" In the end I had to mount the P/E grill to the kit on with 5 min epoxy and then assemble both to the body. Hope it looks OK. I added the .45 to the front seat before I installed the interior tub. (Couldn't get the camera to focus on the gun though.)There will also be a double barrel shotgun added before we're all said and done. According to reasearch, the letters in the emblems should be blue for a standard coupe. They would be red for a deluxe. Staring to detail the radiator. I've added some paint chips here. I will be adding a P/E radiator cap and the all to often forgotten overflow hose. More to come soon. If I'm lucky, I may have some more pics before the weekend is up. Alyn Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Top knotch attention to details! Paint color, details, theme; will all make this one a stand out. I like how you're handling(painting) the rubber details on vent wings, bumper bracket cut-outs, etc.
Jantrix Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 This is very cool. Looks authentic to say the least. Fantastic work.
Tommy Kortman Posted October 23, 2010 Author Posted October 23, 2010 Well, i guess I did better than I thought. I not only finished the radiator, but it is installed, and the body is now on the chassis. Still have to do the exhaust though. Almost ready to start hauling 'shine. I was also able to get a little better shot of the pistol on the front seat. I think that'll be all for tonight. The ballgame comes on in just about an hour. (Go Phillies!!) Hopefully more tomorrow.
charlie8575 Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 That looks really good, Tommy. This is definitely a build you can proud of. Charlie Larkin
David G. Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Looking good! Your attention to detail is excellent.
