Does the roll cage look too big?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone

Does the roll cage in this photo look too big ?

I used 1.9 mm rod and that comes out to .0748 or 1 3/4" in 1:1

I used .060 first but it looked like a twig instead of a roll cage.

The car is supposed to have 1 1/2" tubing for the cage but in scale it looks too small to me.

What is the Norm?

Can anybody tell me.

It's been at least 15 years since I built my last roll cage and it was for a Nascar Winston Cup car not a drag strip car.

I had a 1:1 55 Chevy Gasser when I was young and I know it had a 1 3/4" main support and a 1 1/2" down rod and that was it.

Please help I'm half blind and confused it's been a bad day.

Somehow I got super glue on my eyelash and it dried shut and I had a hard time cutting it open. Now I don't have any Eyelashes on my right eye.

How Stupid Is That?biggrin.gif

Thanks Everybody

It looks fine....when it gets painted, I am sure it will look just right. Watch out with that glue....true story, a female friend of mine was having some dry eye problems a few years ago, her mother handed her a small white bottle of eye drops, the only problem was that it was a bottle of super glue. It took her years to get most of her eyesight back in that eye. So all of you guys who use eye drops regualerly, don't leave them anywhere near your CA super glue bottles.

Yup, it looks about right..

I had glue on the back of my finger and rubbed my eye Once.

Once!

That was one heck of a learning Curve to get over. ;)

I Now have a Super Glue Debonder right next to my desk.

I won't need it till I misplace it tho

Take care and watch that blade too.

Or we'll have to call you Patch next.

Thank you Gentlemen,

I would move the cage back but unfortunately that is where it belongs.

As far as the NHRA rules in 1965 they did not give a dimension all it said was it must have a roll bar. So the Ford Dealer this car raced for put in a 1 1/2" roll bar.

I Thank all of you for your input now I'll take it all apart sand it and glue it together properly. It's all assembled with Elmer's White Glue.
