cruz Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 That's right fellas, if you want to show something that it's available or close to being available, please, PLEASE, show pictures. I really hate when someone says "I got this and that" and forgets to show the pictures. If you don't own a camera, well, you didn't get anything that we might be interested in........ PLEASE!!!!!!!!! If you "DO" own a camera, shame on you!!!!
Eshaver Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Marcos , it's not owning a camera ......... look I collect cameras . Heck I got old cameras that take sheet film . I also know how to process any black and white and color films too. I also used to do color slides but they are such a pain in de neck to do !!!!! I have a photo scanner that just the other day decided to quit working . The problem arises when you try and convert a film image to a Jpeg digital image ! Now we lose a few here as some of the poster people here don't have a working knowlege of a Computer picture hosting forum ! Heres where the computer "Literates seperate from the somewhat literates from the complete illiterates ! Now that I've managed to totally confuse the heck out of ya , I have a service station diorama to work on ............... Ed Shaver

cruz Posted April 22, 2010 Author Posted April 22, 2010 Are you talking in trade threads or in general? I would like to say in general but I must be fair when requesting something like this, I mean, I also have to understand that not everyone here has the means of getting or for that matter, buying a digital camera, forgive me for not thinking ahead when posting the request. It's just a little frustrating when people want to be updated quickly, I think I'm. Just spoiled!!!
Junkman Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I could not agree more. If there are no pics, it hasn't happened.
Ben Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I belong to a couple other groups and I send pictures to them all the time but on here, there's so many steps I have to take just to get a picture to post, i've given up! On every other group I belong to, I can simply send the picture as an attachment in an email to the group. I spent three hours a while back on here trying to get pictures from my Fotki account to show here. I can't even remember all the steps I had to take so I just quit posting pics here.
Eric Stone Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I spent three hours a while back on here trying to get pictures from my Fotki account to show here. I can't even remember all the steps I had to take so I just quit posting pics here. Once you have them on Fotki, it's easy- You sign in, look at the photo you want to post, click "Share Photo", then click the path under "Image URL for use on other sites:". It will turn orange and say "COPIED". Then you get on here, click the photo icon, the "Insert Image" box drops down, you right click in it, Paste, and click the Insert button. Do that for each photo you want to post. It only takes a few seconds for each one. The most time consuming part for me is acquiring the photos from the camera, then uploading them to Fotki, and even then it's not too bad. As far as Marcos' original post, exactly WTH are you talking about?

charlie8575 Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I don't own a digital camera. I don't like the pictures I get out of them; I also strongly prefer the more permanence of film (you can't erase a negative unless you leave it in too much light.) I do, on occasion, though, borrow my dad's little point-and-shoot Fuji if I want to put something up quickly. I still go get my film developed and put on CD. It takes a day or two, and how quickly can you fill a roll of film? Also, with my employment right now (almost none) even developing film is a little expensive for me at the moment. I agree it's nice to have pictures, and I'll try to take a few. In fact I'll have a few more to put up within the next 36 hours. Ed, Dad and I are right there with you. He has a couple of Crown Graphics and several pre-WW II cameras. We both also develop our own black-and-white film. Color, as you know, is a pain to develop properly. As a little glimmer of hope, at our Eastern Star installation this past Tuesday, one of my Rainbow girls, who I asked to take pictures for us during and after the installation, has expressed a very strong desire to learn how to do photography the proper way, not just the electronic one. Prior to the advisory board meeting this weekend, I'm going to try and get there a little early (it's her aunt's house) and have a roll and the chemicals and be ready to process. Charlie Larkin
cruz Posted April 23, 2010 Author Posted April 23, 2010 Guys, don't be fooled into thinking that digital images aren't of the quality of old fashioned or regular photography, these new digital cameras are definitely way ahead of their time. You still need to know the basics like aperture and lighting conditions to take the best images possible. I too own several non digital SLR's but when their digital counterparts started getting more advanced, I trashed the other ones. I am not expecting people to become picture posting gurus from one day to the other but I will guarantee you that when you start playing with these new digital cameras, you will be leaving the other ones collecting dust. It's the future and no one can stop that.....
MrObsessive Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Pics would be nice when saying you got this or that------especially a new kit. Also, I won't have to dig this up! As far as posting pics on this forum-----------------you know the old adage, "Practice makes Perfect". Did I say it in Spanish???? Whoa!! No, I just looked back at the original post and it's still in English!!! Now I'm not being a smart aleck, but Cruz COULD have posted this in Spanish and I would have understood!

Harry P. Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 It's the future and no one can stop that..... Hey Cruzer... digital cameras aren't the future... they're the present! Digital cameras outperform all but the most expensive film cameras, they're dirt cheap and you never run out of film!

Greg Cullinan Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 When these particular situations come up, I have to open up a tab and google it. I don't mind but lets be environmentally responsible and conserve bandwidth
VW Dave Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 (edited) Pics would be nice when saying you got this or that------especially a new kit. I agree, but especially when somebody post a tutorial.....merely saying "here's how to do it, and I got great results" has no meaning without pictures IMO. Edited April 23, 2010 by VW Dave
Gregg Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 I love it when you are "brutally honest" and better yet, on my side!!!! Are you cheating on me again?
Gregg Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 I also have a digital camera that can be "loaned" out for stories and features. Terry Love and Larry Booth used it on the recent incredible Corvette Feature cover story. And, if you have trust in me, I can set you up so I can log into your computer and show you the way, or at least, how to do things digitally. Now, there has to be some trust here, or a lot of it, and it goes both ways. I have set up a lot of people with not only cameras and equipment, but computers as well. I still remember setting up/building Jairus' one that he still uses till today. Harry's one was so cool, it was so clean and simple, and he likes it, I think (I didn't ask Mikee, sorry). So, it can be done. There is no excuse, well, there are, but I don't want to hear them. Excuses are just simple answers to not trying to solve a problem. okay, I pau.... sorry for stealing threads again It's like this guy thinks he owns the place or something
