Gregg I have a suggestion but it is not for any specific section it is for photo posting instead. My wife and I share a Shutterfly photo account and use it to post all of our picture on different sites. However Shutterfly does not work with your site. Is there any way that you could help with that. I would love to post my builds here but I can not due to this issue. Other than that I am truly happy with this site and will enjoy any changes that may come in the future.

P.S. I have looked at moving my photos to another photo site but had serious problems with spam, junk, and all kinds of other trash.

Thank you for you time.

Justin Tisdale

Don't know if it's one of the photo sites you tried, but Photobucket is the one I use and is IMO the easiest to navigate and upload pics to. I haven't received any junk or spam from them either. :D

Holy cow!!! There's 8 pages already! Enough talk - let's cut to the chase and get the changes made already.

I don't know how to make a website but Marcia does and she can crank a really decent one out in a manner of hours. I'd volunteer her for the MCM Forum website but I might get in trouble. She thinks I'm goofy at 62 years old still playing with model cars.

Of course I think she's goofy for playing Face Book games and trying to get more Face Book friends.

Time to get tonight's pizza casserole going. Everyone have a fantastic evening and don't forget that "Dancing With Stars" is on tonight and as soon as Marcia goes to bed, I turn on WWE wrastlin (spelled like I pronounce it, not the proper spelling).

Where they belong, hopefully... :D

If we make this change it'll take a week or two before it all shakes out... but trust me, this place will be more user-friendly, easier to navigate and hopefully a better on-line experience for all of you.

This all depends, of course, on when (actually even IF) Gregg decides to make this happen. After all, he has the ultimate say-so. All I can do is make my suggestions. Whether he takes my suggestion and runs with it, or alters it, or does something completely different (or nothing at all!)... it's up to him. They don't call him the Big Kahuna for nothing... :D

I can see that part of the problem here is people don't pay attention to what is in the contents of a thread. Example: Gregg said to NOT quote others and a hole bunch of you did exactly that. This place is starting to get to me and I am mostly quiet about these kinds of stuff. I don't like what I see going on here anymore. I'm almost fed up really. Grow up. Dan

Ya know Harry it's kind funny you said that since I coulda SWORN Gregg posted this so that EVERYONE could voice an opinion, not just say "Oh harry said this, this is how it's gotta / gonna be." You REALLY makin it sound like yours is the only opinion that matters and it is a little aggrivating.

My opinion is just that... my opinion. I thought it through and came up with what I think makes sense. That's why I'm sorta pushing my idea... because I think it works.

Whether or not Gregg wants to use my suggestion, or anyone else's, is totally his call. That's why I said it's up to Gregg to either follow my suggestion, or change it, or do something else entirely, or do nothing at all. He's the boss here, not me.

If you have a better proposal than what I came up with, post it! That's what this topic is all about!

I like Harry's final revision. Might take a few minutes to get used to navigating, but not a big deal.

The only thing I've seen that I really think would be a change I'd be adamant about is a separate community builds section.

The recipe exchange sounds good, too. Perhaps we could pin Sam's diner thread in dios and annex that to it? :)

*dodges rotten tomatoes and plugs ears at the hissing and booing.*

It was just an idea...

Of course you do realize that we were only kidding about a Recipe category... ;)

Although I do like to eat...

Actually, Harry, at my instigation, we posted one at The Modeler's Haven in general discussion, and it's proven fairly popular. Something to "chew" on.

*rimshot*

*hits the deck at the incoming rotted produce.*

Why not put the drinks in with it, too?!

I haven't read the whole thread, so appologies if this has been suggested, but under the trades column, could we get a seperate listing for good and bad traders? That way we won't clutter the trades wanted ads with these good trader bad trader alerts.tongue.gif

I know, I'm a little late to the party on this one.

There's only one thing that bugs me about the way the forum categories are set-up; "NASCARS"

Make that "Circle Track Racers" or "Roundy-Round Racers" or ANYTHING but NASCARS!

Every time I see or hear somebody use the acronym NASCAR as a noun, i.e. "I like to build NASCARS", or "You did a nice job on that NASCAR", it's like fingernails on a chalk board to me!

The drag race section isn't called "NHRAS", is it?

NASCAR is an aconym that stands for "National Association of Stock Car Autombile Racing, not the most elegant syntax, but it is what it is, and what it is ain't a noun!

Soap box mode off. :)

:) Greg, first I know this isn't Primarily Petrolinia @ old gas.com . Still , how bout a section where we "Diner , Drive - In and service station fanatics get a real section ..... not the same ole Put a rusty piece of a model on a wood base an call it a diorama either . I know I'm one of a select minority as when I do a diorama , I'm on that piece to re create an actual place that actually does / did exist . Ed Shaver

Is this idea still in the works, or was it forgotten about?

Posted (edited)

Wow, that was a long read. My head hurts and my boots are dirty, but I think I got the jist of it all.

With that in mind, in either General or Tips/Tricks/Tutorial; would it be possible to pin info (or link to pertaining websites) on where to get certain things (like a thread that deals with who makes rivet detail and how to get it). That way, we wouldn't have (in theory anyway) 18 different threads asking for the same thing in 6 months?

I don’t think anyone should hold their breath waiting for a section on “Good And Bad Tradersâ€. What a nightmare that would be. Unless there is a “Goth/ I Hate Everything†section; that is where it could go. Also not going to see a “Petrolina†section. That is what “Dioramas†is for, or even "General". The “Recipe†section is iffy, yet just quirky enough to get the green light. Only if the recipe actually calls for model kit bits and pieces however. :P

My drink recipe is very simple:

1-An Old Fashioned, (or similar), glass

2-Wild Turkey 101

3-Ice

4-Repeat steps 1-3 as neccessary

Too Much work.....Put the Turkey in the freezer, pour into glass, sip and enjoybiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifwink.gif

Just a suggestion and no i did not read all the way through sorry if it this has been repeated. What about taking some unecessary "pinned" threads off or after so long move them to their own thread.

I'm surprised that no one has suggested a spot for unique models on Ebay and other auction sites .. I am on a 1:1 car board and they have an "auctions and for sale" forum.. it's actually kind of interesting.
