Here's the new Tamiya kit I just finished. I painted it with tamiya gloss black spray, and as you can see I departed from the factory stock colors for the calipers and engine cover. The decals included with the kit are OK, but not as good as the ones Tamiya used a few years ago. The registration and glue are not up to the former standards. The insert engine the kit uses doesn't look half bad, but that's kind of what it is, half-tooled. The parts visible from under the hood are nicely tooled up, in fact it's enough to completely fool me, but that doesn't take much. It's a time saver for me and and I'm sure a cost saver for Tamiya. But personally I missed building a 10-20 year old tamiya kit with a stand alone engine and high quality decal sheet. I suppose that's the way the old ball bounces.

Tom, That's stunning. It makes me feel like I need to wear a tuxedo and Tag Heuer.

Nicely done, as usual.

Anyone who can afford to buy a real Aston Martin can also afford to have a few parts resprayed. They could also do something crazy like paint the whole car candy burgundy with a little pearl in it.

That. Is. Awesome.

You didn't make any modifications to the stance, did you? I absolutely need to get this kit. The color palette is already going through my mind!

Thanks Captain Obvious, no, I didn't modify the stance.

Looks great. That paint is blinding, and you cant even tell that the engine is just an insert. Excellent. Cant wait to get mine.

Another gorgeous BlueMoose straight up build. Rich paint and clean, fine detailing. Bravo! cool.gifsmile.gif

The insert engine approach works on a modern car like this since contemporary engine compartments have a monolithic, molded in look anyway. But it sure is less interesting to build as a model...mellow.gif
