I worked at an AMC dealer in the early seventies and personally I like several of their cars.

They had one, memory failing me, Hurst something or another that I really liked.

Hi Roger,

Nice looking Rebel! Through the late 60's / early 70's AMC cars were built in Australia too, via AMI ( now Toyota).

We had the Rambler, and the Javelin. I was just a kid at the time, but knew enough to know that they weren't GM or Ford, they were something different!.

By the time I was old enough to buy one, they weren't around anymore, 'cause the rust had gotten to them!

I like your builds, and you've done another great job on this one!

It looks like John, Dave and Ken have nothing to do but just look at the car! How do you improve on perfection? <_<

James.

Actually George the Machine was available, minus the stripes, in other factory colors with the blacked out hood!

Had a friend in Black River Falls Wi. that had one in red! Saw another in blue at a car show I went to in southern Ca. while on a layover!

With a Rebel yell, I said More! More! More! :)

Roger, I happen to like the white/red/blue Machine version best, but you've shown that red/black really make this car pop too! Any engine pics?

If Revell would tool up their own version of this kit, I'd buy a case.

Great work on one of my Grail kits! I like the "Non-Machine" color scheme too!

I'm with the rest of you, if Revell (Are you listening guys?) would tool one of these, a 73 Javelin, and a few other supposed "oddball" AMC Kits I'd be in line for a case of 'em too! The E-Bay prices for these old Jo-Hans are ridiculously high,l considering the lack of detail and all the clean-up just to get a decent build out of one!

I'm a big fan of AMC and people build too less AMC cars! :) But this is very nice and that Cross Ram manifold is a very good looking under the hood!

There's a certain level of 'functional beauty' in the Rebel's design, and I think you nailed it with your model. Shame we'll probably never see this one back on hobbby shop shelves. B)

That's a beautiful job! I loved building mine.

FWIW, the Modelhaus now has the stock hood (without the scoop) available in resin for those looking to build a SST or mainstreamer Rebel. Unless you pay big bucks for an unmolested original kit, most of these now available are built-ups and glue bombs, and almost invariably someone's cut a couple of holes in the hood.

This kit cost me $63 including shipping. :)

THAT'S AWESOME MY FRIEND !!! cool.gif

Where can I find that store !!!! smile.gif

You will have to find Mr Peabody and his WayBack Machine!!! They closed up in 1990 and the kit was bought from them in 1970 not long before Uncle Sam provided my first break from building!laugh.gif
