I've seen two Revelle Ferrari California kits with the same problem: warped windshield frame. I spoke with a Revelle Tek (his spelling) rep who tried to persuade me that if I glued the windshield into the frame, everything would be fine. I exchanged the kit (at Michael's) but the new kit was almost exactly the same: left upper frame corner at least 3 mm low, right frame slightly less. It appears to me that the body is being wrapped too tightly in its plastic bag. The rep said I could mail it to him, it would be evaluated and if they decided it was defective, they would mail me a new body. After speaking with this rep for 15-20 minutes, I felt the odds of my receiving a new body were not very high.

Well a member on my site started building a California and his was sighlty warped too, but he was able to fix it.

I bought a vw samba bus( revell us version but it's the same as the Germany version) it was also tightly wraped and it was REALLY warped. So I returned it and got a new one, and that one was warped too, but not as bad, but still.

I think it's starting to be a problem, because I think everbody hates warped stuff and new kits shouldn't be warped.

Chinese quality control strikes again.

To not stand behind your product with such obvious defects that appear to be rampant is shameful.

Swap the bodies, regrind the old ones and use the styrene again.

I think all revell of germany kits regardless the box, were made in Poland.

At least my vw buses were, but they were in a revell of us box instead.

True!

Anyway... IMHO they can prevent such mishaps in the future, by adding "reinforcement pillars" connecting the upper A-pillars to the rest of the body.

I bought a California as well, from Michaels too. I knew full well what to expect when I opened my kit. I was not surprised in the least. The problem is most definitely a too tightly wrapped body which smashes down the frame and starts to warp the body.

Here's where my story differs. I went through the Revell website and requested a new body and filled in all the blanks. I went so far as to take pictures of the bad body just in case. Within a week I received a brand new body, not so tightly wrapped and not so warped. Revell did A-O.K. in my book.

I had the same problem on the first Revell California conv that I picked up and tight wrapping was the clear cause. The hood in my kit was also warped but I couldn't determine a clear reason for this. I picked up a second kit at a different shop and it was fine. Didn't bother trying to get replacement parts from Revell since I assumed that it would be fruitless.

has this whole "customer service" (yeah i know, what a concept) thing been derailed somewhere? wasnt it revell that all you had to do was sniff at them and they sent you a whole new kit?

Wow, has it come to that??

Less than 3 months ago I requested a new body for the 150 Black Widow because I had screwed up the

original with a botched paint job that would not strip off. I offered to pay for it! In less than

two weeks I got a new body and hood... No Charge!!!

Forget calling them just use the website!!

Does this kit have a full-detail transaxle? You know, top, bottom, both sides and front and rear? I'd be grateful for any info. Thanks,
