cruz Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 What is the best color from Tamiya to duplicate the color on this car??? Thanks!!! Hosted on Fotki
sjordan2 Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Maybe these can translate into Duplicolor or get something from a Dodge dealer.
Cato Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 (edited) X-31 Titan Gold is in the ballpark if you silver it down (X-11) a bit. Edited September 24, 2010 by Cato
my name is nobody Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 (edited) Well. while it's not Tamiya, Testors/ 'Model Master'- #2909 Light Ivory is close. Edited September 24, 2010 by CJTORINO
meaneyme Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Cruz, your best bet is Tamiya Racing White, very similar to that color.
TurboKitty Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 (edited) hey cruz, the '69 Dart GTS on the box is Chrysler Paint Code L1 Beige (a gloss, not a metallic color). Maybe you could get a local body shop to custom mix the color for you using either the PPG paint code (22542) or the Dupont Codes (4998D,4998L). That would be the most accurate way to go if you can't find a close enough match with Tamiya colors Edited September 24, 2010 by MB_ChargerChick
Harry P. Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 There's no Tamiya out of the can color even close to that (Chrysler "Beige"). Maybe you can find a close match from Duplicolor.
Zoom Zoom Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Not only does Tamiya not have a color quite like it, but...why beige? That color has to be the reason that variant of the kit was a complete sales dud. Yeah, we're going to put a beige Dodge Dart on the boxart! Tamiya TS-46 light sand coated with clear might be a reasonable match...if you really have to have beige. It might be too beige, and Racing White probably isn't beige enough.
TurboKitty Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 just got home from WalMart, in the paint isle there is a generic gloss light beige that looked like a dead on match for this color. It's a regular size spray rattle can, right where all the Krylon and Rustoleum stuff is. Might be of some help, IDK
Chuck Most Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Well. while it's not Tamiya, Testors/ 'Model Master'- #2909 Light Ivory is close. I think he's right- Champagne Gold might work, but it's more, well, GOLD than beige. I can't really tell, but is the box art car metallic or solid?

Okay Bob, sounds like you just might have the answer for me, I just took a look at that color in the hobby store and it looks pretty close. This build is for a friend of mine, he is the one that wants it in that color. Personally, I would've gone with a nice light green metallic but he likes this one.
Brett Barrow Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 I'd give a look at TS-68 Wooden Deck Tan, too, if it's not too late...
charlie8575 Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 Chuck- the beige on the box car is a pastel. It's actually a rather pretty color; I've seen a couple of cars in it. I think the Model Master Light Ivory with a little brown would actually work well. I have seen some Dupli-Color shades that also come very, very close to it. As well as Plasti-Kote. Charlie Larkin
