As soon as I am done with my current project I am going to find the Green Hornets Black Beauty kit and build it. Has anyone built this model and can tell me what to expect? Thanks.
highway Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Here's a few just off the top of my head. 1. General Lee (of course ) 2. KITT from Knight Rider 3. KITT from Knight Rider 2000 (for those who may not know, the red Pontiac Banshee based one) 4. the Kenworth truck from Movin On 5. Dodge Ambulance from Cannonball Run 6. 70 Challenger from Vanishing Point (even though it was a diecast kit) 7. GMC van from the A-Team 8. The Monkeemobile 9. Daisy's Jeep 10. Daisy's Plymouth 11. Cooter's tow truck 12. Roscoe's patrol car 13. the GMC General truck and trailer from Knight Rider (I only seen it once, I think it was a Monogram 1/32 snap kit, and the vendor at the show I seen it at wanted $200 for it!) 14. the white Corvette from the A-Team 15. The Batmobile 16. City Chevrolet Chevy Lumina stock car from Days of Thunder 17. Hardee's Chevy Lumina stock car from Days of Thunder 18. Mello Yellow Lumina from, you guessed it, Days of Thunder Ok, obviously I watch too much TV and too many movies, or I just have too many TV and movie cars in my collection! I know there's more like some from Miami Vice, more from Cannonball Run, and probably many more, but hey, I don't want to hog them all!
scummy Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 American Graffiti 32 coupe and milners front engine dragster .
Aaronw Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 (edited) Did Hogan ever actually have a Jeep in the show? He was in a German POW camp, I wouldn't expect to see any Jeeps. I always assumed AMT took an existing kit and tried to jump on the band wagon of a popular show. As far as the original question there have been multiple models released for MASH and Tour of duty but I doubt many were cars. AMT did the A-team van. Ah, nevermind I see Matt got it, I didn't see it the first time. Edited September 29, 2010 by Aaronw
wisdonm Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 (edited) Although the box doesn't say so, the Johan EZ Chrysler Turbine Car has a complete set of decals to make the race car that stared in the 1964 movie The Lively Set. The full kit does not have these decals. Edited September 29, 2010 by wisdonm

Poncho-Power Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Though it does look similar to the Pontiac Banshee concept car, that Kitt was actually based on a Dodge Stealth. I remember reading that back in 1991, when the movie came out, & here's a bit of info from Wikipedia on it: "The studio was unable to use the real Pontiac Banshee IV concept car for the movie, so instead it hired Jay Ohrberg Star Cars Inc. to customize a 1991 Dodge Stealth for the Knight 4000. The custom car can also be seen, albeit briefly, as a stolen supercar in CHiPs '99." Here's a link to Jay Ohrberg's page on the KITT from that movie, inclusing photos of the Stealth being converted: http://www.jayohrberg.com/Knight_Rider_2000.html Also, don't forget the Polar Lights kits of the Mach V from Speed Racer, the Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo & the "Homer" car from the Simpsons! KITT looks too much like a 4th Gen Firebird, 1993 actually

I figured the real Banshee concept car wasn't used for the car and knew it looked similar, but I had no idea the actual base was the Stealth! Ah, the magic of Hollywood!
Peter Lombardo Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 I am surprised that I didn't see the Munster Koach and the Drag-u-la on this list. After the Monkeymobile, I think these two are the most well know......well ok, Kitt was pretty well known too. I know I am dating myself (I am 61) but how about Ed "Kookie" Burns Rod?.....The Grabowski (spelling?) Rod.
mopar01lee Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 (edited) If im not mistaken , someone did a diecast of the 68 charger from the movie blade. Lets not forget the yenko camaro from 2f2f.amt Edited September 29, 2010 by mopar01lee
Peter Lombardo Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 I also just noticed that I did not see the "Back to the Future" DeLorean....did I miss seeing it? That is pretty famous in the movie ranks.
Eric Stone Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 (edited) Monogram also offered a twin pack kit from the "Untouchables" that included a Model A coupe and some other 30's gangster style car, maybe a Duesenberg? I'm pretty sure that one is a '30 Ford coupe and a '31 Rolls Royce. I have the '30, traded the Rolls off here a couple months ago. Wasn't there a Baywatch truck? I'm picturing a Ranger in my mind, but I could be wrong... Don't forget the Fireball 500 car. There was the MPC Cannonball Run (or sequel) Malibu stock car and ambulance... ...which reminds me of the Rescue 911 ambulance, Huey helicopter, and Taurus police car... ...which reminds me of the Terminator Taurus police car. EDIT: Adding the AMT and PL Ghostbusters Ecto-1 kits. (Are these two different tools? I only have the PL version.) And there was the "New Monkeemobile" Monogram '87 Mustang GT convertible. Doughnut Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 I'm glad to see that the Riptide Corvette made the list. How could we forget the B.J. and the Bear semi and trailer? I saw it built at a contest lastyear and almost fell over.
Harry P. Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Beverly Hillbillles truck, Fred Flintstone's car...
highway Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 How could we forget the B.J. and the Bear semi and trailer? Now that you mention it, I don't know how I forgot that! That's been one of my most wanted for years, right up there with the Movin On Kenworth.
Harry P. Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Speed Racer... Barnabas Collins' Dark Shadows van... Joker Goon Car...
highway Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 i also found online a Top Gun motorcycle kit, but i believe there were some plane kits from the movie. Dave I never knew of the motorcycle, but they did the F-14 with the movie marking, an A-5 (I think) and another plane as the MIG copycats.
peter31a Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 I don't think I've seen the car from Mannix listed yet nor the Volkswagen van from the helicopter service from Magnum.
Chuck Most Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Wasn't there a Baywatch truck? I'm picturing a Ranger in my mind, but I could be wrong... Adding the AMT and PL Ghostbusters Ecto-1 kits. (Are these two different tools? I only have the PL version.) And there was the "New Monkeemobile" Monogram '87 Mustang GT convertible. I think the Baywatch truck was a 1:20 Lindberg, but it was a Toyota, not a Ford. LIndberg did an Explorer Sport in 1:20, maybe they did issue it as a Baywatch version, but I'm not sure. The AMT and Polar Lights Ecto kits are different tools, or HEAVILY modified versions of the same tool- the PL is more of a snap kit, while the AMT kit is kind of reminiscent of a Jo-Han promo, detail and breakdown wise.

Actually, Chuck, I think the Ford Explorer you're thinking about is the Jurassic Park Explorer, but they might have done a Baywatch version, too.
highway Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Here are some TV & Movie models!! WOW, Marty, I haven't seen the Simon & Simon Camaro since I was a kid! I had that one when I was just starting in the hobby, and have the reissue Camaro Revell put out a few years ago just because I remembered how nice it was for being a snap tite, oh how I'd like to have the original again, though!
