Clay Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 (edited) Started this for the truck community build, its a 53 F100, built the way I would like to have one built. On to the pictures!! Paint on the cab, this is going to be really hard to match the color, spray too much and its dark, don't spray enough and its too light. Little mock up A little detail painting. Gun Metal spokes. Another mock up Edited October 12, 2010 by Clay
oldscool Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 That truck is going to look great! That's one of my favorite colors. Are you keeping the 5.0 engine or going with something bigger? oldscool
Clay Posted October 11, 2010 Author Posted October 11, 2010 All righty now Got the hood painted, and the cab cleared. Got the chrome stripped and those painted flat black. Engine is 99% done just got to find my penvise, not sure where it is. The bed got way too much paint on it and it started running, so it is in the pond. On to the pictures!! I know not to blame the camera but I am going to anyway. The batteries were dying.
Blake Rogers Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 i love it clay really came out nice man keep up the great work
Clay Posted October 11, 2010 Author Posted October 11, 2010 Thanks guys, I am going to x nay the wired distributor, since I don't know where my pen vise is.
Clay Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) Ok, if I keep going this will be 97% done. But I am tired and my body hurts from sitting on the ground. Anyway, I have to wait on the bed to get to where I can paint it again then I can button this one up as my first build of 2010. I know the grille isnt finished yet. Thats how she sits now so until the bed is stripped, thats as far as I go. I also need to do some touch ups. Edited October 12, 2010 by Clay
Nick Winter Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Clay looks great, one thing though it's a '55
mikemodeler Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 looking good Clay, nice details and great color choice. Can't wait to see it finished!
Ryan S. Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Looking good Clay! Excellent choice of color- I love that orange! I just picked this kit up a few weeks ago and have a two toned paint job in mind and that orange is one of the colors I'm going to use so it's nice to see that it looks so good on the 55. I love the mid 50's Ford truck and the 55 is probably my fav. Keep up the good work!
Danno Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Great looking paint. I, too, love that Fiery Orange!!
oldscool Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Coming along great:). You don't need no stinking drill bit to do plug wires in the heads, just do it like we did in the old days and heat up a needle and stick it through the plastic. A little clean up with the tip of a #11 blade and badaboom. oldscool
Raul_Perez Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Looking good, Clay!! Those Chrome Ts look right at home on that old pickup!! Later,
crazyjim Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Michaels had that kit and I could have got 50% off - bought the Black Widow '57 Chevy instead. I should ahve gone for the Effie. I love the color and what you're doing to it, Clay.
Clay Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 (edited) Thanks everyone, I hope to have this one wrapped up over the weekend. I have learned what I should look for next time I do something like this again. Edited October 13, 2010 by Clay
Hattley Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I just picked up the same kit last Friday, haven’t opened it and, well, after seeing yours I may not. Like everyone else, I’m drooling over your color choice! Looks good, I’ll be following the build!

Like everyone else, I’m drooling over your color choice! Looks good, I’ll be following the build! There is really nothing wrong with this kit. I like the fact it doesn't come with the metal axels like most of the other 50s era fords do. If you don't want it I will take it
mrmike Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I like the color and the wheels Clay! Looking good so far! Keep it going!
Hattley Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Ha!I'll keep that in mind! Most likely I'll make a rust bucket out of it. There is really nothing wrong with this kit. Clay Posted October 14, 2010 Author Posted October 14, 2010 Got the bed repainted, will have pictures soon!!
