Danno Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 The 13th Annual GoodGuys Southwest Nationals Model Car and Pedal Car Show will be Friday-Saturday-Sunday, November 19-20-21, 2010 at Westworld in Scottsdale, AZ. The Model Car and Pedal Car Show will take place all three days. This is Arizona's longest-running model car/truck event! As an extra added attraction for model car/truck builders, there will be approximately 3,000 1:1 scale rods, customs, street machines, muscle cars, and special interest vehicles on display for modeling inspiration! Here's the scoop: Registration is Friday 8am to 5pm and Saturday 8am to 11am. You may register and enter as many models and/or pedal cars as you would like to bring. There is no entry fee to register for the Model Car and Pedal Car Show/Contest. We encourage you to bring all or as many of your models as you'd like, even if they've been displayed before! There will be thousands of spectators on hand to see your models and they love all kinds of model cars and trucks! There is no entry fee for model cars or pedal cars, but you must pay regular admission to get into the event either Friday or Saturday in order to enter the Model Car and Pedal Car Show/Contest. When you enter, you will receive a free all-day pass to enter the event on Sunday at no cost; pickup your models/pedal cars between 2pm and 3pm. So, at the very least, you get two days' admission for the price of one! Judging will occur Saturday afternoon and evening; awards will be displayed with winning models and pedal cars on Sunday following the Make-N-Take event. There will be a Best of Show award sponsored by the International Model Car Builders Museum; there will be Best Engine, Best Interior, Best Finish and Best Junior Model awards conferred by critical judging. There will be a People's Choice Award and Top Twelve Models awards selected by spectator balloting. Last year nearly 900 spectators voted for their favorite models! There will be a Revell Make-N-Take event on Saturday at 1pm and on Sunday at 11am at the Model Car and Pedal Car Show. Revell will provide a free snap kit for each child 15 years of age & under who is in attendance and builds the kit on site. Moonlight Modelers Club members will be on hand to advise or help the youngsters with their kits if needed. The Southwest Nationals Model Car and Pedal Car Show/Contest will be inside the big tent, just inside the main entry to the GoodGuys Southwest Nationals event. Come see us there!!! We'll look forward to seeing you and all your model car creations! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Danno Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 (edited) Okay. Here's the deal. Goodguys Rod & Custom Association has presented the Southwest Nationals Model Car and Pedal Car Show/Contest in Arizona (Scottsdale) for 15 years now. I have had the honor of being Goodguys' show director for this event for the past 11 years. We've built up the entry count from a few dozen to over 200 models. But this event should and could be even bigger! We've wondered why there wasn't more regional participation. The most consistent explanations we've heard from Arizona modelers is the parking situation and the cost of admission to the event in order to enter models. Well, there's nothing we can do about the parking. It's all dictated and operated by the City of Scottsdale, who owns Westworld. It's gonna cost you $5 to get to the event no matter what. And we've never charged an entry fee for models or pedal cars. But still there have been modelers who were put off by the admission (gate) fee to the event. We've always provided participants with a free day-pass to return on Sunday to pick up their entries. However, the initial gate admission fee was necessary to get into the event before models/pedal cars could be entered in the show/contest. If the cost of admission has held you back from participation in what could be the biggest and best model car contest in Arizona, I HAVE A SOLUTION! If you enter 10 or more models and/or pedal cars on Friday (11/16) or Saturday morning (11/17) before 10am, I will pay your way into the event! You will still get a second pass for free admission ain access to the charged by Goodguys to the event, in order to retrieve your entries. So, you can have 2 free days at the Goodguys Southwest Nationals!!! All you have to do is enter 10 or more model cars or pedal cars. The $5 parking fee is ALL it will cost to participate in this exiting model car and pedal car show/contest. You can't even enter the Desert Scale Classic or Modelzona contests that cheaply! Thousands of car enthusiasts view our model car show/contest display during the weekend. Where else can your builds get that much attention in one place? All entries compete for awards for the Peoples Choice, Best of Show, and Top 12 Models, regardless of category or type of build. Several hundred spectators vote for the best models on display. Our events average more than 1200 ballots cast per event. So, what do you think of that? Join us next month at the 15th Annual Southwest Nationals Model Car & Pedal Car Show, presented by GoodGuys Rod & Custom Association and Revell, Inc. Friday, November 16, Saturday, November 17, and Sunday, November 18, 2012. Come see what you've been missing. Dan Edited October 29, 2012 by Danno
