Harry P. Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 I'm glad it's starting to show up.Thanks for all the support, patience, and the way you guys put up with all my "issues."As a side not, surgeon said today that more likely than not will have to do another surgery, #6.What fun, what fun....As you can see by the x-ray, I truly do have a screw loose....
tim boyd Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 I just finished Tim Boyd's NNL story. I enjoyed it. Chris Chris...glad you enjoyed the NNL piece. Mag hasn't arrived in my neck of the woods yet (at least not in my mail box yet); maybe I'll try the hobby store tonight and see if it's there. TIM
Tony T Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 My LHS is finally getting MCM up here in Canada, and the first issue I got was 151 in Sept. Looking forward to issue 152 whenever it should arrive!
crazyjim Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Hasn't made it to FLA yet. I'm hoping I'll see it Monday.
Danno Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Got my copy of Issue# 152 at the LHS yesterday. Great issue!! Written almost entirely by Tim Boyd, with a couple of articles using Bob Downie's name as an alias! Seriously: Great articles!! Loads of content. Great issue!!! Noticed TB also appears in that other magazine's current issue. Brings to mind a question: how many times do you suppose a contributor has appeared in two or more competing magazines in the same month, using his real name or the same alias?

Can't speak for SA, but we don't use aliases. Ever.
Harry P. Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 ...that you know of.. Right. And since I talk to just about everyone who has a feature in the magazine, I'm pretty sure nobody is going by a stage name! But I guess somebody reeeeeeally clever could be fooling me. Hmmm.... "Jairus Watson" does sound like an alias...
Jairus Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 No... you said "ever" and I happen to know that before you started there were quite a few articles written and featured by those who didn't use their real names!

Should have been more clear. Not since I started. However, that submission I got from a "Foghorn Leghorn" did seem suspicious...
MikeMc Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Hasn't made it to FLA yet. I'm hoping I'll see it Monday. Must be in the mailmans hands....got mine saturday.....Jairus went over the top!!! !
Clay Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 I got mine either Friday or yesterday. I can't complain about it being late.
The Creative Explorer Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 I always wondered why some magazines are 2 or 3 months ahead of time. Is it really necessary to have the January 2011 issue in October 2010? I guess they must use a mirror image of the same production schedule Gregg uses! The same goes with 'your' cars in the states. You can already buy somewhere in 2010 a 2011 car...even when it is summer 2010...
Terry Sumner Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Got mine yesterday but with a good chunk of the back cover ripped off. Wish they came in a protective plastic bag or something...
Darren B Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Got mine yesterday but with a good chunk of the back cover ripped off. Wish they came in a protective plastic bag or something... I know what you mean. That's one of the reasons that I just get mine at the hobby shop, used to subscribe to a car magazine and about every month it looked as if it had gone thru a wood chipper before i got it.
Marc @ MPC Motorsports Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 I got mine at the LHS on Saturday. Another great issue!
Nick Notarangelo Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Im Just happy to get a issues cause it dont dedicate it self to just one modeler as the other company does
Harry P. Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Im Just happy to get a issues cause it dont dedicate it self to just one modeler as the other company does We're all about you guys! The model car magazine for builders... by builders. Lots of them, the more the merrier. Sure, we have the big names, but we also feature "regular guys"... you know, us! In fact, many of the features we run in the magazine are a result of seeing something posted right here on our forum. We really are a family, and the magazine is proof!
Danno Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Should have been more clear. Not since I started. However, that submission I got from a "Foghorn Leghorn" did seem suspicious... Yeah, and every once in a while we see a how-to or 'build' article attributed to Gregg. That's clearly phake as we ALL know the real Gregg Hutchings doesn't really build!
Harry P. Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 That's also why I get mine at the LHS when I can find it there. When I don't, I've gotten to where it's no big deal anymore, though it would be nice to be able to find it at Borders & Barnes & Nobles, like the other model magazines. Lost sales there guys, something it's past time to address. Believe me, there is nobody more frustrated by the lack of newsstand presence than me.
sjordan2 Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 (edited) Mine came today, in perfect newsstand condition. I have never had a mangled issue. Great article on Common Items, Uncommon Uses, which features some tips I haven't come across online. The show article could use more factory stock builds, and as usual I wish there was more coverage on classic/vintage builds, which only seem to show up in the diecast section. Otherwise, a great issue and always a great magazine. Edited November 1, 2010 by sjordan2
mikemodeler Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 While i have yet to get my issue, I do agree with Bluesman Mark, 100 %. Sure hope it is as good as everyone is raving about as it seems like forever since the last issue.
Aaronw Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 LOL, No problem here Harry! I get it when I get it. Good issue too. Chris Exactly, I pay for 9 issues, I get 9 issues, no problem just part of the MCM mystique. Many magazines are on time, and may even appear "professional" (and really I think MCM matches or beats most model magazines in actual appearance) it's charm is the fact that everyone involved in the magazine actually builds models and is approachable. Also that it really is possible for the average reader to submit an article and get it published, assuming they can write and follow the submission guidelines. Gregg et al, are very approachable and it shows. Look at the photo areas at your next show, the other magazines will have a clinical, very businesslike area, MCM has a happy go lucky gaggle of modelers hanging around, checking out the models he is shooting, and just generally enjoying the show.
MikeMc Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Yeah, and every once in a while we see a how-to or 'build' article attributed to Gregg. That's clearly phake as we ALL know the real Gregg Hutchings doesn't really build! Well he does build....just can't seem to FINISH...
