After christmas when I was a kid, my parents would ask what our favorate gifts were, and if there was anything we really wanted that we didn't get. For the most part my parents were right on the money, and we usually got all we wanted and more. (for this I always felt quite fortunate, because there were kids I knew who often got little to no gifts at christmas)

As an adult the new kit annoucements each year are like waiting for christmas. There are things I hope for and things that I get that until they were annouced I didn't even know I wanted, but there are also things I'd hoped for but never materialised.

Here are the new kits annoced last week that really have me interested...

Revell.

snap 2010 Mustang Convertible not only does this have some good kitbashing possibities, but I also like the new convertible mustangs. I see me buying several of these.

1969 COPO Nova I like this body style nova, and the more variants the better. plus the steelies and poverty caps will help do COPO 1969 Camaros, and other mainstreamer chevies.

AMT

Custom Gremlin I've been wanting to buy bandit resin's Gremlin kit, but the donor kit wasn't exactly cheap. this solves that dilemma

Opel GT Love this little mini-'vette. it's a fun one to build.

Here is a list of kits I reasonably expected to see annouced but didn't. at least they are the ones I really wanted to see released.

Revell

1957 Chevy Nomad I know I'm currently converting one, but it would be nice to have the kit available.

1/25 2011 Shelby GT500 The 1/12 one is cool but for it's probable cost I could buy 2 1/25 scale GT500s, and a2010 mustang ragtop, and have a coupe and a convertible, that will fit in my display case.

2009 Covette Stingray Concept car. I just think it looks really sharp, and would go well with my Mako Shark, Corvette indy, Aero-vette, and astro vette.

1962 Corvette Based off their excellent 1958-59 kit. why wouldn't this sell like eggs? (BTW eggs out sell hotcakes 100-1 at most breackfast places)

1966 GTO ragtop would breath some life into this excellent mold.

**Super longshot here, but could happen***

1968 Bullit Mustang, 1968 Dodge Charger twin pack with Frank Bullit, and bad guys figures. wouldn't this be cool, and could even be packaged with a dvd copy of the movie.

Round 2

Any new tooling would have been nice. But perhaps picking up where RC2 left off with doing some Foose kits would have been nice.

I only seen a few things that are good, Like KISS figures from Round2 and the lil hot dogger, Revell dropped the ball

this year no Mopar stuff, like a 1970 dodge Charger, the only Revell kit I'm buying will be the 1/32 Peterbilt coe

I surly don't need a 1/12 mustang, I'm hope there will be better offerings in the fall from Revell.

The COPO Nova was the big surprise for me. I will buy a bunch of those. I like the 2010 Mustang cv too.

What I would have liked to see is the new Corvette C6R for the GT (old GT2) class with those graphics. Hopefully Revell of Gemany will do it.

Well, The 1/16 Dukes and Petty Chargers are ones I've wanted for a while, even if the first isn't built as a Genera Lee, didn't know that I wanted the Gremlin, 1/12 Mustang, '48 Ford Kustom, R/C Decoy Duck, 550 Powered Traxxas Rally (already wanted the brushless VXL model  ), or the 4x4 Stampede....but I do now!

Quite a bit I'm NOT interested in, but the stuff I WILL BE BUYINGoffsets that. If Revell reissues the Jeep J-10 this year, and when AMT finally brings out some of it's announced but still unavailable kits, I'll be very happy indeed!

There wasn't exactly much from Round 2 that interested me other than the reissue of 1965 Chevelle Station Wagon.

Anxiously awaiting all 3 Moebius kits...

From Revell I'm looking forward to the previously announced 2010 Mustang and...

2010 Camaro SS

'69 COPO Nova

'62 Impala SS

Ferrari 458 Italia

Ferrari California

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

Remember that the iHobby releases only cover 1st & 2nd Quarters of 2011. There's a whole nother half year of goodness yet to come. Wouldn't be surprised to see several more Mustang issues upcoming including a 2011 GT with the correct 5.0 engine, maybe the GT-500, the new BOSS 302...lotta options there. Also be interested to see if they issue a Camaro Convertible, and/or do anything with the ZR-1 tooling (a Z06, Grand Sport, or convertible since the last set of Vette issues are 5-6 model years old).

I'm probably in the minority here, but I thought most of the new tooling announcements were great.

I'll definitely get the 1/12 Mustang, the Mustang GT convertible, and several of the RC2 reissues like the Gremlin.

FWIW: Is the Gremlin the first time a resin kit may have (in part) led to a reissue of a donor kit? I would have to think all the attention Gremlins are getting due to the Bandit Resins stuff had something to do with that choice...

Don't get me wrong I will probably buy the 1/12 GT500, but would be pleased as punch to have it in 1/25. and I think you are right that the resin body being available for the gremlin helped cinch the deal. I think that the model companies are starting to realise the advantage that the aftermarket has for their sales. before they might have looked at reissuing the gremlin, and said "It's appeal is limited" but now that there are different resin bodies out there the can say "look at all that can be done with that kit."

I haven't seen the one your converting, so it might be this one, but Revell has a 57 Nomad kit available. The only downfall is it was an older tool reissued in the "Basic Builder" line, and is probably an 80s mold with at least the exhaust molded to the chassis and simple chassis details.

The Gremlin is cool, especially if it either can be built stock or I can use Bandit's kit.

I missed the '66 GTO convertible. I'll be getting one.

The '69 Nova COPO with all the trimmings for a budget basement dweller sounds good. Add six and drive away- just not as fast.

The '62 Corvette also sounds nice, as does the Impala SS.

The SLS also sounds nice.

And of course, my beloved Hornet from Moebius.

What I would have liked:

I still would like to see a wider variety of 1940s-50s cars for replica stock with well-done multiple versions to keep people happy. I was also hoping to see some more new tools from Round 2. I know they're doing some science-fiction and TV stuff, but it would be nice to get a new car kit or two, as well.

I am rather disapointed in this years selection guys,a few years back you promised a 87 cutlass but that was a no go, and this year its pretty much more of the same blah.

I know the industry is suffering like everyone else but how about repoping stuff thats in demand?

You guys in the company surf the sites and see what people have been asking for in your older kits and maybe some of the newer stuff,I mean really how many 57 chevys,Mustangs and impala' plus camaros does anyone need??

Heres a concept you got to major model magazine company's for car models out there how about sumitting a poll or a questionaire and ask what they would be more than likely will we spend our money on??

Also don't make the box art so toy like think back to the 60's and 70's with stuff that was catchie not boring, and 2 for 1, or the 3 in 1's from back in the day when a kid could make all types of versions with everything in the box.

I knw somethings are cost prohibitive but to make money you gotta spend some to see what we really want.

Thank you.
