Daniel Peterson Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007  I was wondering about some missing posts myself. Some of what I've posted isn't where I left it. For example, I posted a response to 'Yad's wild Triumph bike photos yesterday, and noticed it wasn't there this morning. My post was nothing deletion-worthy as far as I could tell, so I wonder if it isn't something on my end. I sometimes have 6 or 8 tabs open (IE7) to speed navigation around the forum, and wonder if that has something to do with it. Maybe I'm closing a tab before a message is fully posted, or....maybe it's just Gregg and Jairus' fault! In your case, maybe you just offended the Toyota gods.
ismaelg Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I don't know if it is related, but a few weeks ago the server sneezed and we lost a few days of posts for a few hours. They were restored back to normal, so nothing was intentionally deleted..... It could be the same this time. Thanks,
Zoom Zoom Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I lost a post yesterday too; but I don't know if it was my fault or the board's. I thought I had posted a reply, but it didn't show up later. I posted on it today and it's still there.
Abell82 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007  You can delete this response if it will help!!
ultraliner13 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 As of this month I cant even get itno this site from my computer at work. In my free time I look at what you guys and girls have in modeling. Now I get you are bannned from this site contact the site administater. I got home yesterday rather upset and tried again on my home computer and here I am in the site I like and respect. I have asked my boss is there a reason for being banned and she is disapointed too as she looks at the wonderful models as well. She has seen my collection and respects the time and effort required to get good results. If any one as any bright ideas my boss and I are listening. Cheers John Wilson
Gregg Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 John, try from work now. I see what happened, it was a global ban to that IP, but I cleared it now. As for the deleting of posts, I am switching to new bulletin board service/software It should be 110% better. This free thing, well, you get what you pay for.
Zoom Zoom Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 John, try from work now. I see what happened, it was a global ban to that IP, but I cleared it now. As for the deleting of posts, I am switching to new bulletin board service/software It should be 110% better. This free thing, well, you get what you pay for. Our club has a free forum software that works well and has been relatively trouble-free from an administration standpoint. I think it's VBulletin software. I like forums with an "ignore list" feature so that posts by habitually annoying or incoherent forum members   become invisible once you've placed them on your ignore list. I'd be overjoyed if that feature was available on every forum
Gregg Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Unfortunately, V-Bulletin is not free, but it is one of the ones I am looking at.
ultraliner13 Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 My last posting here mentioned I could not get into this site from work. Well thanks to Gregg and anyone else who was able to help I can now go back into this site from work again in my free time of course. My lady boss is very pleased as she also enjoys looking through this site at the wonderful models everyone produces. Thanks again people. John Wilson
GTmike400 Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Our club has a free forum software that works well and has been relatively trouble-free from an administration standpoint. I think it's VBulletin software. Bob, Scott is able to run our forum for free since he already purchased a vB license for his Open Track site. Its far from free unfortunately, at $160+ depending on the package.

Its far from free unfortunately, at $160+ depending on the package. Yes, I know, he told me last night he had an extra license for it that he gave to the club. Purchase price seems pretty reasonable considering it's better features/security vs. the current MCM forum software.
Drago Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Jairus and all guys, I’m administrator of a Brazilian Modelers Forum and I use the same “engine†of Model Cars Magazine Forum. Both are developed in PHP language. In my forum, I turned on the automatic cleaning. Its means that a topic without no answers in a certain time, it will be deleted. Jairus, did you also setup this way? Perhaps, it’s the motive of this “massive†erasing… Each topic could have a specific time to be deleted. Just inform these times in the forum’s control panel.
