Dr. Cranky Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Folks, I am in the process of gathering lots of signage for my Industrial Photo Op base, so if you have something of interest, please send it my way . . . I already have plenty of bio-hazard signs . . . but what else? Thanks for the help in advance. Cheers, Dr. Cranky
torinobradley Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 The Fallout games have some real interesting signage. Kinda '50s appocoliptica... Nuclear cars, fallout shelters and the like. I'm sure you can find images from the game on the net. Don't know if that's what your looking for but you mentioned biohazard and I thought of radiation.
Jon Cole Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Virgil, I have 16 pages, listed alphabetically. Including "Signs". http://public.fotki.com/JCole/logos_signs__euro_plates/
Dr. Cranky Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 Thanks, Jon . . . great possibilities here. Perfect. I'm already clipping some like the American flag, etc . . . again, thanks.
highway Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Cranky, I forget the site right now, I'll have to dig through my Favorites and make sure I saved it, but I found a sign place online where you could design your own caution type signs and such. Here is one I made for a custom big rig I'm working on I made through that site and saved the image. The picture and text are both modifiable, that sign started out as one like this.
highway Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I found the link I saved, and here is the link for the home page. Safety signs This would be useful to anyone doing dioramas or anything needing a sign, just like the custom one I made for my truck. If you click on the "Create Custom Sign" button, that takes you to the modifiable signs, and click on the type of sign you want and that will take you to a page like this: Custom Sign link Click on the green box that says "Print a Custom Sign for free" and modify the sign however you wish, then after you have the sign the way you want, click "Preview", and that will let you save the sign as a picture file. You can also save the sign as a PDF file by going to the bottom of the screen and clicking the "Download Now" button where you see another green box that says "Free Download". There are also stock signs that you can personalize, that is how I did my "Wide Turn" sign, and that takes you to the same place as above with the sign for modifying. I also noticed at the bottom of the screen in the yellow bar, there is also a tab for free signs PDFs. It may sound complicated to make your custom signs, but it is actually quite easy, and if I can do it, anybody should!
Terror Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Maybe an EXIT sign.Sorry, don't have a pic just ideas.Fire extinguisher,Bathrooms...old paper fire exit route on the wall,,OH, how bout an electric panel box? With some old plugs on the walls.A little off the subject.Nice work Doctor.
Dr. Cranky Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 Wow, you guys are great . . . coming up with lots of goodies I can use. Thank you!
highway Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Cranky, thanks for bringing this up, and I was playing with the sign making site I put the link up to earlier, and I made a few that may interest you. There were also a couple that were on the website, too. Every place needs a safety sign, and I think Mike Rowe might work here! You need something to protect the valuables. Finally, a few ideas for the bathroom, and the last two are from the site, I only made the first one.
samdiego Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 (edited) personal favorite Signs are my life, mi amigo. If you need something you can't find, I can pretty much put anything together for you, gratis. Edited December 14, 2010 by samdiego
935k3 Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 (edited) Here are a few from a funny sight called engrish.com, somehow something always gets lost in the translation. Edited December 14, 2010 by 935k3

Art Anderson Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 (edited) One of my all time favorites, from YEARS ago: A sign on the entry door to a local restaurant (one of my favorite places as a kid--great classic 50's Drive-In!) THE FINEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD EAT HERE OUR CUSTOMERS! (Always made me wonder just who was in that hamburger I just ate!) Art Edited December 14, 2010 by Art Anderson

Art That's just about like the common sign outside some gas stations/restaurant combos: EAT HERE GET GAS
samdiego Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 I have no knowledge of Asian languages, but they must be a bear to translate to English. Some of the Gunze Sangyo boxes from the early 80s were pretty nutty

Bernard Kron Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 (edited) This is a sign that Ed Roth did and sold as a decal: It's from this website which has a large variety of contingency decals and other classic hot rod graphics. http://www.cartype.c...decals__emblems They also have an incredible collection of oil company and gas station signs and logos ( http://www.cartype.com/list/84/gas_stations ) as well as automobile logos and hood ornaments ( http://www.cartype.com/list/83/emblems_by_brand ; http://www.cartype.com/list/154/hood_ornaments_by_brand ). Not much humorous stuff but lotsa very cool graphics for decals, dioramas and so forth. Edited December 15, 2010 by gbk1
darquewanderer Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 (edited) This guy likes to make his own sighs. Some you've really got to stop and think about. Funny and strange signs Same guy, different site Edited December 15, 2010 by moparmaniac
Danno Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Seen in front of Diana Ross's high school... That is supreme!
Aaronw Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 If you go to the department of labor site you can download all of the required employee safety / workers rights / minimum wage etc workplace posters. You would probably have to print them, then scan them to get them into scale, but since they are required for all workplaces they would add a good bit of accuracy to an industrial site diorama.
