John Teresi Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 (edited) Hello.....last month I was at a swapmeet and bought a box of built up models for $20.00 ......I like to buy parts for future builds........well 2 week`s ago I decided to check out the box........well to my surprise they were all 1964`s......a Falcon. El Camino, Pontiac leman`s, Corvette, Buick Riviera and this 'Wildcat".......as I was checking them out ,I noticed they were all screwed together from the bottom with 4 screws.......I thought maybe they might be old so I checked on Ebay.....they turned out to be old Amt Custom kits.........they all had engines too......I took them all apart and stripped the paint and chrome........thet all looked in decent shape.........well I decided to make the "Wildcat" first......I changed a few things......wired and plumbed..... Pro Tech spark plug wires, wire loom`s,braided line, detailing wire, valve stems,coil...........foil ......flocking.....Slixx mini flakes......H.O.K. Khameleon paint.....alclad paint......thank`s for looking. Edited December 13, 2010 by John Teresi
DRG Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Now that was a trip down memory lane as I remember that kit from the sixties when I was 14 tears old. Naturally it did NOT look any where near that good.
vaughn Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 That color plays tricks with you. Is it one or two colors? Or just my eyes ? Looks good regardless. Good find.
Harry P. Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Are those two skeletons ex-NBA players? They must be about 7 1/2 scale feet tall!
TheCat Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Very nice build. LOVE the color and custom work.
Trae Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Very cool! Are those JPS wheels? Haven't seen those in years . . . or maybe I've just been out of touch for too long.
cazxr2 Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 What a beauty love the custom work and the paint is stunning as is the engine. one of the nicest models I've seen this year. A true freshen up for the new age. Can I ask where u got the wires for the engine? Cheers craig
sjordan2 Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 John, I am constantly amazed at the variety of work you do, and the skill with which you do it.
Jantrix Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Great work. Love it! I may totally steal that side-pipe idea.
CaptainAhab Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Fantastic detailing all around! Great save. Cheers to you sir
John Teresi Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 That color plays tricks with you. Is it one or two colors? Or just my eyes ? Looks good regardless. Good find. Vaughn......the paint is H.O.K. Khameleon paint .......it has about 4 different colors depending where the sun hits it......blue,red,purple,pink..........Trae.....yes,the wheels are JPS wheels..........Graig most of the engine detail is Pro Tech 1/24 scale products.....thank`s
pharr7226 Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I love the shot with the skeleton looking at his reflection. You photography is almost as cool as your builds. Great work on the Wildcat.
Eshaver Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Hey Round 2 ya listinin................... how bout a re- release of these kits ! Nice build of a piece of Vintage A M T history ! Ed Shaver
disabled modeler Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Ill second what Ed said...very nice work John, and Round2 listen up PLEASE I have an old build up that not all there so there is interest in the older kits
Danno Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 John, Great build ~ as always! ~ and terrific save. That paint is awesome. But, how where did you get that miniature replica of yourself?
Sixties Sam Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 John, I should be used to your incredible workmanship by now, but you still amaze me! That's a great model! The engine compartment looks absolutely real! I'm eager to see what you do with those other 64's. Your Buick is a hard act to follow! Sam
davyou5 Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Whoa! I love the paint and the Dead theme;) , Exceptional build! B) B) .
bsoder Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 So I'm scrolling down admiring this beautiful Buick and then I came across the first pic. of mr. Bone's and almost spewed coffee all over the computer very cool, although I don't know where you find the time to build a custom like this, in so short a time man
Jon Cole Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 How can we get our own "Mr. Bones"? I mean, those look much better than the skeletons in kits such as Rommel's Rod.
Art Laski Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 John, my friend, another killer build! -Art
Harold Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Beautiful work on your Buick . Are they driving to a Dead concert, or just deadheading back from a delivery?
Railfreak78 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Hey John! Great work and nice save! I want to point out something I really like. Those side exhaust pipes. I really like the way they look did you hand make them too? Great looking car and paint. Cheers my friend
