LAone Posted March 19, 2011 Author Posted March 19, 2011 so heres what i have been up to lately. so last night im over at my friends house. i see out of the corner of my eye some sort of compressor. so i asked him what it was and he said its his ooooolllldddd (he's 50 yo) airbrush compressor. he was cleaning out his stuff and found it. first thing he said was "do you want it?" i was heck yeah! turned it on and it works. only down side is that it doesn't have an on/off switch. only a power plug. no biggie. so i had bought some metalizers brass last weekend, i broke out the airbrush and i gotta say, stuff is great. heres the color compared to a brass hammer i have. im having some issues with the engine and exhaust..ill have to reconfigure the set up.

LAone Posted March 22, 2011 Author Posted March 22, 2011 hey tyler, only updates with pics are above. i need to have it done for saturday, so i work more than take pics at the moment. i still have quit a bit to go, so i hope it goes smoothly. so far, i have put wire on the dizzy, had to switch the alternator from passenger side to drivers side, figured out the exhaust piping. need to make an oil filter, coil, plumbing for the fuel and water, a battery, couple of wires here and there, some painting, put the engine in and "bottle ship" style the carbs and hosing, a bit more weathering and it should be done. doesn't sound like much, but with the time i get to work on this, it's like crunch time for me.

CrewDawg15 Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 This looks better and better each time you update Luis. I know what you mean by the exhaust...I had the same problem when I made the 'Lady. I wanted a stock sleeper look so I just fabbed up a crossover pipe off the header, keeping the rest of the exhaust in it's stock location. LAone Posted June 6, 2011 Author Posted June 6, 2011 heeello viewers. oh yeah, this one is still very much alive. i haven't done a whole lot to it. but it's getting something. tylersloan, sorry bud for the uber late reply. but yeah, it barely clears the ground. the 280zx wheels stripped of chrome and the bumpers sprayed in alclad. the rear bumper is suppose to be like that. it's the rust effect going on. the dime back from the body shop. had to trim the driverside fender arch a bit. to sit better on the chassis. slapped the bumpers on and the rear underspoiler. nooow i gotta work on the engine area a bit. i have to build a radiator to fit the tight squeeze, fit the msd box, make a coil for ignition, start on the head lights and install the oil cooler. it's gonna have to sit out front of the lower valance. no choice, it doesn't fit behind it. back at home im not too sure how to go about the tail lights. they are molded in, which sucks. i left them unpainted to not loose any details. i was thinking of putting some BMF, using tamiya transparent orange and red. and then putting a layer of clear over it. does this sound like the right way to handle it?
LAone Posted June 9, 2011 Author Posted June 9, 2011 thanks dblD. im going to give this a try. im hoping to get this done already.. well here are some better pics. unfortunately i came to find out that the body has warped on me a bit. guess it sitting in a box for 10 years does this. so, that is why the rear under spoiler doesnt sit flush on the passenger side. ill fix it on final assembly. with it's buddy, shakotan ZX. thanks again for all you viewers. at least i know i have your attention.

LAone Posted June 9, 2011 Author Posted June 9, 2011 thanks again DblD. monty, great question. running this type of offset and with requires modification of arches. some go to the extent of adding flares. just like you see on my build. in the real world, the tires wouldn't rub or shread, well that's if it's done properly. if a person wants to run demon camber and deep offset wheels with out flares. they would go on to rolling/flattening out the inner lips of the arches. they also can pull/roll the fender out as much as it can before it buckles and destroys it. if you google fender rolling, you'll find good examples. especially on youtube. now, for the bearing question. most noobs don't think about this. but yes they do wear down the bearing faster. now if they dont know about it, then they are fudged. but the hardcore demon camber "runners" already know that their bearings are going to wear faster and in that, they are already prepared. new bearings at home and change them out sooner that later. most guys i know that run demon camber are drifters and work on their own cars. hope this helps.

LAone Posted July 1, 2011 Author Posted July 1, 2011 helllo viewers! well heres a progressing update on the 510. i had to make another roll cage. the last one was not letting the door cards go into place.. i did a bit of engine work and slapped some decals on the rear deck lid. thanks for looking
LAone Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 UPDATE 1: i stripped the chrome off the grill and made some head light buckets. i also plan to mount the oil cooler like so and yes, i do have lines that work..lols also put some bmf on the tail lights. UPDATE: so, i got a bit done in the past couple of days. for those not living in cali, well it's been hot and with a 2 story home and the upstairs nott cooling down as good, it really sucks cause it dampens the mood to build. so, i found an ae86 radiator that will fit my dime. i modded it a bit, now i just need to make an electric fan, or something that looks like one.. also, i made an old school wink mirror, an intake funnel and shot some paint on these parts. wink mirror with PE brackets and hex rod for knobs the radiator and funnel. shot them with alclad polished aluminum. nice and shiney.. 8) heres where the funnel will be mounted. will be making a intake tube pointing ot the carbs
W-409 Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 This is looking cool! These old European or Japanese cars are pretty cool too, and those modifications, you have done to this car, are great. Paintjob and weathering are looking very cool. Engine detailing is very nice also. Only thing, what doesn't fit to my eye is the camber on the wheels.... But in the real car, they are like that too, but it looks bit funny to me, because I see those so rarely... But all in all, really nice build.
