Guest JamesDE Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Started this about 2 years ago, this is the second kit Ive attempted this with, the first was sold before I could finish the hood.... Now Im back and in full swing on this one..... Here are some pics of the cab....
Raul_Perez Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 COEs are just too cool!! It looks like you've got the overall shape looking right. Don't stop now!! Thanks for sharing,
Smart-Resins Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Looks like you have things under control there! Looking good.
Guest JamesDE Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Thanks guys.... Havent done much to this, but I managed to cut a sleeper off a Pete and shorten it and got a little mockup of where its headed at least.... Woulda posted sooner, but noticed the site was down for a few days....
Foxer Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 WoW on that hood! I sure hope you're gonna stick on this one to the end ... and all here!
Clay Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 I love the truck, not really digging the sleeper though...
Guest JamesDE Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Back with an update... First this is the rendering that inspired me to start this project 2 years ago... So now Im gonna build it similar to this... I ditched the sleeper because I felt it didnt really flow with the cab very well... The dump bed has been started as well...
Lanny Haas Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 very impressive Good work on the hood. I tryed to make one my self, but could not work out the hood. Went to a resin body. Great job on your project.
ajulia Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 COEs are just too cool!! It looks like you've got the overall shape looking right. Don't stop now!! O yeah! I second that! With all that! Its comin along nicely but what gets me is seeing it in kit form thats way cool bro! Could ya send a link for me fella!! I see this here big guy in the yard at the shoppe LOL! O' yeah in the diorama ya goin! lol Keep on wit the keepin on!
W-409 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 This one looks very interesting so far. Personally I don't like that hood, but that other thing looks very good and I like seeing big modifications, it's always very great and gives some inspiration to myself to continue tricky builds. Nice work with it, more please!
Lanny Haas Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 (edited) I used a body from Ron Andrews I think, to make my hauler http://public.fotki.com/lannyhaas/49-chevy-coe-racers/ Edited January 21, 2011 by Lanny Haas
Guest Darkside Customs Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 This has been so long since I've updated.... I finally got a hold of some of my builds and projects from back in Cali... Back again on this.... Lete see how long it takes me to finish, considering this has been close to a three year project.....
JasonFL Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 This thing is so cool. I've always wanted to build a big rig slammed on the ground. I was looking at your work on another forum, you do some nice work. Can't wait to see how this one turns out, keep it up.
Guest Darkside Customs Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Hey thanks Jason.... I appreciate that!
Bartster Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 For real? How cool. Please keep showing your progress. Bart.
Dr. Cranky Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I'm really enjoying this thread and all the progress you are making.
Foxer Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Liking seeing this back on the table. But I'd never push you on it .. 3 years is nothing according to my build schedule. The best part of building is the building ... if you finish it, you can't work on it anymore.
cobraman Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Looking good. Good move dumping the sleeper, it just didn't look right.
bryan_m Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 I agree with ray on the sleeper...... this thing is way cool, and so much work to get it to where you are.... im lazy, i woulda bought the resin one! LOL cheers bryan
Steven2 Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 This is looking good, I like the pickup bed better than the dump truck or sleeper.
CUSTOMBOY Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 good job !!!!!! if you search some informations for finish your model , see here my fotki "special COE" http://public.fotki.com/customboy/ thanks for your visit
CorvairJim Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Thanks for showing this build in it's present condition! I've been playing with the idea of doing this some day, with an eye toward a wedge hauler like Lanny posted above. Ironically you show a vintage AMT Corvair reissue kit box in the background of the first several photos, and that's what I'd be hauling on the wedge - a Corvair drag car!
