Southern Fried Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Had this old Lindberg about 75% finished years ago. Pulled it out to finish and the chrome had gone bad. Must be pretty common for these kits, as 2 more have done the same thing. Screwed up the paint on the front cap trying to remove the spears and couldn't remember the paint mix. Decided to do it as an old car that had been wrecked, then put back on the street with a replacement front cap and "hot rodded". Dropped in the AMT '56 Y block. Home made sheet metal hood scoop. Reversed the front spindles to get a little lift. Put exhaust cut-outs and glass packs. Radiused wheel wells. Un polished Americans. Dirtied everything up a bit. Still got a bunch of small things to finish up. Just an old low buck street/drag car from around mid 60's.
Modellpularn Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I really like it! Cool idea and I think you found the right mix of parts to make it into some midsixties street/strip warrior. The local hero sort of, maybe parked by some old gas station. Diorama hint.....
trogdor Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Very nice detail to the chassis, it looks real.
Dan Helferich Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I like it a lot! It reminds me of cars that ran around my hometown in the mid '60's. You don't need pretty to be FAST!
Smart-Resins Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 That is great! Nice job on the recovery of this oldy!
pharr7226 Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 This looks like something my Dad raced. The suspension and weathering look great. Nice work!
bajaboy5b Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 just asking how rare and how old is this kit? because i have one and i am just wanting to know
Krazy Rick Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 You've captured the look with this one, just enough weathering; without getting silly....I like it !
GTMust Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Jeremy: The kit's not rare...... it's still listed and available on the Lindberg website. Tony
bajaboy5b Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 ok i just wanted to know because i have never seen a other one besides the one i have.
Draggon Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Man I just LOVE this! Great weathering job on the chassis.
george 53 Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Man, does THAT bring back some memories!!! GREAT job. Those little cars were ALOT more common at the strip than the fancy finished all painted up ones!!! It came out GREAT!
