spkgibson Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 (edited) I just finished this one yesterday, I painted it with Krylon Butter Cream, It is an exact match for the Jasmine Yellow Chrysler used that year, The interior is Painted in Duplicolor Medium Tan Interior paint, The entire gas tank Is aluminum BMF ,As is the Muffler, and Cat Converter, The rest is hand painted, I didn't detail the engine bat as much as the last one I built, I was being lazy, I made sure I got all the Details correct on the Chassis, So from underneath It Is 100% correct detail wise using the chassis in the kit, Enjoy, By the way I started this on Tuesday, So Not to bad for 3 days work, The body and other parts were painted back in October of last year. Crusader101 Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Very, very nicely done. I really like your choice of color. Where were you able to obtain the wheelcovers?
spkgibson Posted February 4, 2011 Author Posted February 4, 2011 Very, very nicely done. I really like your choice of color. Where were you able to obtain the wheelcovers? Missing Link Resin Makes those, Thank you for the complement. This car went together like a breeze.
Bluzboy66 Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Very nice Monaco. I love seeing these kits get some deserved attention! Mike
spkgibson Posted April 14, 2013 Author Posted April 14, 2013 I built two like this....The other one in Wedgwood Blue.
W-Machine Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Three days work! I can barely finish something in 3 months! Your color choice really is spot-on for that '70s vibe.
Jeff B Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I've been working on one with the same vibe, yours looks fantastic. I'll look into those wheels.
TFchronos Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Some really nice work done in 3 days, it looks great!
Bonekrosha Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I love these cars. I wish I hadn't got rid of my Ex-CHP Monaco... Very nice looking build.
realgone58 Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Nice build, and you got the tail lights right! So many folks overlook that area on these. Jasmine yellow it is. I had a '78 Newport in that color. Very cool.
Harry P. Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 who needs them hehe If it's supposed to be a factory stock, which I assume it is, the fact that they're missing sticks out like a sore thumb.
Guest Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Nice work Steve, in spite of the missing mirrors. Sometimes you can be a bit retentive Harry!
Harry P. Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Nice work Steve, in spite of the missing mirrors. Sometimes you can be a bit retentive Harry! Would you build a model and leave off the left front wheel? Or the hood? Or the steering wheel? Or the right side valve cover? Of course not. So why leave off the mirrors?
Guest Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 (edited) Easy Harry, just joking around. Maybe he did not have any. Some kits do not. Edited April 14, 2013 by midnightprowler
Harry P. Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Easy Harry, just joking around. Maybe he did not have any. Some kits do not. I know, I probably sound like a raving lunatic... But I see this all the time... otherwise nice models, fully detailed, foiled, polished, even flocked... obviously the builder took time and made an effort... and yet no rearview mirrors, inside or out (most of the time, out). It's sort of a pet peeve of mine. I realize that some kits are missing them, but that's what a parts box is for! Especially on a factory-stock build,
Guest Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 True enough. If I dont have what I need, I'll post for the parts.
charlie8575 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Let the absence of mirror not reflect otherwise on a good build. I'm surprised I missed this one....two years ago? Charlie Larkin
spkgibson Posted October 3, 2014 Author Posted October 3, 2014 Mirrors?...I don't have the 64' dodge kit to swipe it out of, Yes the car still looks exactly the same, Thanks for pointing it out.
