imatt88 Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Hey all, Does Modelhaus post pics of their goods? I've been to their site many times, but I can't look at anything. Am I doing something wrong, or are they just protecting their products? Kind of frustrating when I want to look at Pontiac or Edsel parts and all I get is a blank screen Cheers, Ian
lordairgtar Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 (edited) That kind of bothered me as well, but I have never been disappointed in whatever I bought from them. I can assure you that their chrome bits are very nice and often better than the original kit item they based it on. In kits, you usually have mold lines and flash to deal with and the Modelhaus version has that all cleaned up. With exception of complete mastered kits, most of what they have is based off parts from plastic kits. Edited February 6, 2011 by lordairgtar
impcon Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 I'd agree whole heartedly with the above post. I have bought from the Modelhaus and after a few transactions, I never worry about what I am going to get because I have yet to be anything but pleasantly surprised! I know that it's a bit scary but I don't think you'll find anyone here who has anything bad to say. I agree that pictures would be nice but you can trust those people just like you'd trust your mom - they'll never do anything to hurt you. Seriously - their products are awesome!!!
mikemodeler Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 As a long time and very satisified customer, I would tell anyone to have confidence in ordering from Don and Carol. If you know what you are looking for, and they have it listed in their catalog, then rest assured it will be right coming from The Modelhaus. Pictures are nice but when you consider the vast amount of product they offer, it could take someone quite awhile to take pictures and post them online for us to see. I would rather they keep up with orders than to spend the time posting pictures.
58 Impala Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 (edited) I've talked to Don Holthaus on the phone, he is a very personable guy. I asked the the same question-why no pictures. He explained that he is a mom and pop business and that he and his wife do everything. He said it would be near impossible to photograph all of his inventory and keep it current. If you order anything from him you won't be disappointed, his stuff is exceptional. Edited February 6, 2011 by 58 Impala
Foxer Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Here's a couple spots I saved that offer some Modelhaus photos: Modelhaus Modelhaus
imatt88 Posted February 6, 2011 Author Posted February 6, 2011 Thanks for the info guys. I've heard nothing but good things about Modelhaus, and after viewing the links Foxer sent me, all I can say is: WOW what a selection of resin! Would I love to snif around in that place for a while
imatt88 Posted February 6, 2011 Author Posted February 6, 2011 Sweet! looks like it could be staright out of the box Nice Chevy, Is that the one with the Mopar roof? Looks cool
whale392 Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 I too have ordered from the ModelHaus sight-unseen. I have NO reservations about ordering anything from him again, as what I recieved was crisply molded with no bubbles, flash, or marring. Great product (and I am VERY picky on my stuff).
Dr. Cranky Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 The Modelahaus is totally reliable and professional. I have never been disappointed with either service or merchandise.
jeffs396 Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Here's Don's 1966 Caprice, now discontinued. This was based off of the original AMT annual, haven't tried it on the new Revell chassis to see if it can be made to work with it... Good stuff here, feel confident in ordering anything from Don. Fast service too, more than I can say about some casters...
Greg Cullinan Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 No pictures is a drawback but in no way let it sway you from purchasing. Here is a 61 Impala from Don and some tires as well.
Rob Hall Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I've been buying from the Modelhaus for over 15 years now... they are my go-to source for replacement/repair parts when restoring old builtups, and I've bought a couple dozen of their kits, and plan to buy a couple dozen more.. great products, great customer service, no complaints from me.
cruz Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Just as I have always said about Replicas and Miniatures Company of Maryland, Modelhaus is also terrific, go ahead and order with confidence!
Kombi Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I myself have struggled to make a purchase from them both due to the lack of pictures and also adequate descriptions of some of the parts. So I'm glad to hear that many can vouch for the quality of their products. I guess I can always send them an email with specific questions.
route66modeler Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 (edited) Hi, Don has dealers that sell at most of the major model swap meets. My modelhaus dist. lives in Kansas. He always comes the kirkwood mo(may and oct shows) and KC slammers shows(june). He has all the modelhaus parts displayed. He also sells mailorder. No worries from buying from Don or his dist. Very honest dealer. Steve Edited February 7, 2011 by route66modeler
imatt88 Posted February 7, 2011 Author Posted February 7, 2011 Thanks for all the info guys I plan on ordering stuff from him when budget allows. Tires will be the first thing. It seems I'm always short of period correct tires for those mid-'60s led sleds I love! Cheers, Ian
