A guy on the HAMB has mastered a 1:8 scale Terraplane grille, and he wants to know if there might be any demand for such a thing in 1:25 as well. I'll be buying at least ten when/if they are produced- how's 'bout you?

This is the 1:8 master. Pretty, isn't it?

Can he get that kinda detail IN 25th scale??? I don't have any use for such an option, but if he pops it, I'm SURE we'll be seein a COUPLA ideas from YOUR crazy self!!!;) ;) ;) ;)

Pretty good likeness. I'd buy a couple because I want to try and scratch built a 37 Terraplane. I saw somewhere over the weekend where a guy shrank a mold by adding a liquid like naptha to the mix at 50-50 with Smooth-on omoo. Maybe that could be done with this piece.

If he thinks there's a market in 1/8th then he's in for a pleasant surprise at 1/25th. Hopefully he'll master it separately at the smaller scale. In any case, count me in for sure!

Thanks count for posting the poll. Hello all my name is Jim I'm from CT and I'm the guy that is (I think) going try to cast this part. The part was mastered in a 3D rendering and it was printed on a 3D printer. All I would have to do is scale the drawing down & have it printed. Then I can cast the parts for all of you fine builders. I'm just looking for feedback as to weather or not it will be worth it. I am truly not in this for the money but I can't loose money either. I just like to tinker & have fun.

Oh... did try pulling a mold off the grille I made in 154. Twice. Neither time came out well, so I just said "next time"...

If you master it I can give it a shot casting it. If your interested.

Any thougths on doing those headlight pods as well. They seem to be almost as unique as the grill! I can see those as well on many a hot rod and they would be a must if someone was going to do a Terraplane

I have already mastered some headlights in 1/8th scale. The guide 682-C, 682-J, & E&J type 20 lights.

This is what 3D printing looks like on a 1/25 scale part...

Would it BE possible to do a WHOLE body that way? Is this like the guy who's doing the Elenor Mustang on a Rapid Prototype machine? THAT would make a COOL model. ;):D:);)

Yuck That's not attractive at all. I am looking into a process called stereo-lithography. Let you know how it works out.

As soon as I get another one done, I'll let you know! I'm also thinking of making up some Woodlite headlights.

Kool; I'd be happy to help out. Woodlites are some strange looking lights but hell whatever blows a persons skirt up...

Yes it is VERY possible to do a whole car. It can get very expensive. A body could cost upwards of $200 just to print. It would cost close to that to render it in 3D. I have over $200 just into the 1/8th scale grille so you can just imagine what a body would go for. Besides don't they make an Elenore?
