Seen some in the past on this subject that were really a bashfest. This one didn't even come close. and it was cut off before it could escalate! I will give credit that it wasn't immediately deleted and resulted in the other party being heard from.

Johnny, that's exactly right. The original poster got what he wanted–a response. After that happened, no reason to keep the thread open.

VERY good move on our moderators part, if you ask me. He allowed the complaint to air, the complainee GOT his response as needed, and it was closed. good judgement call in my opinion. Good job done, Harry!:unsure::lol:

Not only should the bashin’ stop, I would like to see the Model Cars Message Board become the #1 bar-none best model car web site, PERIOD! That won’t happen if there are these constant nipple-twisting contests here. We need more content- and more participants- to make that happen. I strongly suspect that some builders on the other model hobby boards are tired of the shenanigans they deal with on their usual boards; we won’t be able to draw them over to our Model Cars Board, if this nonsense is going on. So lets start showing some pride around here! Maybe we can attract more people, and in turn we all benefit with more posts. More models in “Under Glassâ€. More ideas in “Tips, Tricks, and Tutorialsâ€. More trucks… more drag cars… more stock cars… more big scale… more everything! EXCEPT the complaining… we DON’T need more of that.

In my opinion this is already the best forum out there for those that build models.

With that being said it is a public forum and we will every once in awhile run into problems of bashing others, or remarks that are inflammatory.

These problems should be, and from what I've seen are, taken care of quickly and quietly.

I'm sure there are people on this forum that, if they got to know me, would not like me as I'm sure that's true for me.

We are here to learn and share a great hobby, and have fun in the process.

For evidence of that refer to the gremlin posting.

Live and let live. If you don't care for someones attitude or building style don't respond to their posts.

Great video Chris. I like that song and the way it was re-done. Yeah, we need little more modeling and a lot less grumbling. Me too, I haven't posted much lately and need to get back to it.:lol:;) Dan

I agree. This is not a forum to air grievances or try to ruin another's character. This forum is for model cars - hence the name. The most recent post already had me suspicious with the title! People need to recognize that many of the aftermarket "cottage" industries servicing our hobby are really not "industries". They are regular folks trying to fill a void or find a niche for the benefit of the other builders. They are not trying to get rich. As such, they operate different than, say, Amazon. They do not have hordes of people working overseas to produce products en masse and deliver them to your door in two days. They make what they can, when they can, while trying to lead regular lives and working a 9 to 5 job.

Be patient.

Jumping to conclusions is bad exercise.

Doesn't this sound a lot like what is said by the occasional trolls we get here? This is from CNN:

"You have proven to the world that you are not civilized, that you are terrorists -- animals attacking a safe nation that did nothing against you," Gadhafi had said in an earlier televised speech.

Anyway, I think the flame wars on this forum have become much more subdued. That quote just sounded a lot like some of the whining I used to see here.

An ongoing problem here....was worse but is getting better  Some need to think another minute before they hit enter

It is getting better and I agree with taking a minute before stroking the enter key.

Not only am I a model builder but I also *GASP* play 'World of Warcraft' which exposes me to thousands of real people, some hiding behind their keyboards and making life miserable for the rest of us... What can I say, it's an escape from my escape... :P;) Anyway, here's how I survive in the online world:

I have a standing rule... well, several standing rules actually, when it comes to forums and communicating via the 'net.

1. Treat people how I want to be treated, with respect and consideration.

2. Treat people and speak to them as if they are standing right in front of me... within arms reach. Not separated by hundreds of miles and a computer network.

3. Never post when you feel like hitting something. Take a deep breath, cool off, go get a drink of water, a beer, smoke a stogie, whatever, just don't. type. angry. You might just post something you'll regret later on... And getting out of a flame war is a lot more difficult than starting one. ;):D

Always 'take the high road'.

Sometimes people are out of line, it happens...but often, the reaction to something the original poster said that wasn't intended to cause harm turns into drama central due to the reaction, as much as what was said.

"It takes 2 to tango" is a phrase my mother used often when my siblings and I would fight and one ran to complain to her.

The one thing I think the "bashed" person has to be honest about is:

"Was I really bashed, or am I just mad that:

A) Someone has an alternate viewpoint which is different than mine but equally valid

B ) I made a mistake and someone pointed it out, and I'm upset about it

C) I already don't like this poster, so I'm reading their response looking to take offense to the slightest thing"

Seems like a large percentage of the time, someone posts something and doesn't have the stomach for anything except heaping praise, atta-boys, and you're-absolutely-rights to be posted in response. Remembering that this is a public forum and not everyone is always going to agree is just reality. It's how people react to disagreement determines how dramatic things will eventually get...

Amen, Brother Mark!!!

Well said.

And, another thought to add, if I may: It seems to me the degree or intensity of the reaction is often driven by any combination of A, B, and/or C ... the more of them involved, the more irrational and vitriolic the reaction. My 2cents.

Well, with WELL over 6,000 members here, not EVERYBODY is gonna like the way things are here. That particular thread HAS been DONE TO DEATH. IF you WANT to deal with said company, AFTER ALL the negative things you've heard, well then, you WERE warned. There is NEVER an excuse for lousy service, NO MATTER WHAT is being sold. This thread has lived in other threads here too, so it's no longer any surprise to us. OR at least it SHOULDN'T be. The lame excuses are JUST THAT, LAME . If you deal with LAME merchandisers, then you GET what you asked for. The wait for items ordered should ALWAYS be a short one IF one WANTS their buisness to prosper. The shame of it is, that it's NOT gonna get better, cause THAT is HOW this particular individual RUNS his buisness. As Ray Parsons says, "If ya DON'T like how I do buisness, SHOP SOMEWHERE ELSE!. No TRUER words were ever spoken. Just let it go, and move on. Hope a lesson was learned.Sorry it cost you. HOPEFULLY you'll get your parts soon. BUT I have NO DOUBT that you WILL GET THEM. Just a shame you've been treated as you were, NOT a good way to keep or get customers. Again, this is ONLY MY opinion on this subject. you will have to draw your own conclusion.B)

It's ironic that you chose to bash someone in a post complaining about bashing someone posted by a guy who just had a recent post deleted for bashing someone. Geez!

Most complints posted of this board could be answered with these answers...

1. The publisher can't control how the post office handles your magazine but will replace it if it arrives damaged.

2. The new issue will be out as soon as possible, Gregg is not a miracle worker.

3. Resin casters are often one man operation, and thus sometimes are delayed in getting orders out by illness and such your order will arrive in time.

4. You trade with people at your own risk. sometimes you will get burned

5. yes ebay fees are outrageous, use eModelcars.com it's free.

6. Yeah I know that instead of the 1957 chevy that the model companny put out, the should have released a 1912 chevoldsmobuick. but sometimes the model companies need to make a profit.
