Craig Irwin Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Buy a whole case and you'll get one, sell the extra white ones off.
VW Dave Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 My LHS got 4 in this week, and one came home with me today. It's a white one, although the plastic color didn't matter, I was hoping to see one of the red ones when I opened it up.
kitswapper Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 I bought the last one at Pegasus Hobbies yesterday on the shelf and got a red one pretty cool..
Gregg Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Round2 said this week hopefully the Purple Ones will be up on their site/store
High octane Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 I picked up one last week and it was a red one, so now I'll have to get another one as I do want a white one.
58 Impala Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 I got one today at my LHS, it's a red one, seems like it's the same brittle plastic as taillight lenses.I'll have to prime everything for paint, don't care for the transparent red.
RyanSilva Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 VW Dave let me borrow some of the more unique VW parts although 1/24 scale I think they will add some useful options to the manx, Im working on the widened porsche 356 wide 5 wheels, regular width, wide..and wider I just need to make a brake drum to adapt to the manx kit. I got the old style solid wheels too Corvair engine and 356 fujimi engine also I got a single rib dune front tire I made, just making the final touches to it I got lucky on my kit, I got white plastic under the chrome, and the enamel melted right off with purple power.
crazyjim Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Do I have to open the sealed box on my Manx to find out what kind of plastic is in the box? Is it important?
tim boyd Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Actually, the "Wiktop" architecture is that of a former fast-food hamburger chain which, at the time the Manx kit was first issued, was bigger than McDonald's--they being Burger Chef, based out of Indianapolis. Apparently AMT Corporation decided to not bother with licensing from Burger Chef Systems, which themselves went away by 1981. Art Not sure if we're talking past each other, but the source of the "Wiktor" name used on the cutout is disclosed in my post at the bottom of page 11 of this thread. Apparently Mr. Wiktor's time at AMT predates my involvement with the team at Maple Road AMT, and I think my time working with them corresponds to Art's time working with them (more or less), though we did not know each other back then. RyanSilva Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 I finished molding the stock Fujimi 356 Wheels, now I can start converting resin copies to different widths.
RodneyBad Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 WOW!! Nice castings.. I'm Game for some wider ones.
Foxer Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 I'm drooling, Ryan. I got some 356 kits just for the wheels and engine to use on other builds. NOW I can build a whole 356 and not worry about using the wheels!!!!
RyanSilva Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Thanks guys! Mike..you can build a 356 and not worry about the engine either
Foxer Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Ryan . is your ebay store still silvaresinspecialties? I'm getting nothing or do you just have nothing up at present? I'd sure like a link to click in your signature here . and I'm sure everyone else would too.
RyanSilva Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Not anymore, I'm back on "chichingot", however Im slowly moving away from ebay, Im building a website and a updating my Fotki to sell direct
ronr Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 I woulds like to see a Photo etched VW engine. I know the heads and block would have to be resin but some photo-etch cylinders would be cool. I also have some multi-pc Porsche wheels avalible http://www.earlyyearsresin.com/. Will be working on a set of duel webers and intakes soon.
Chuck Most Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Photoetched cylinder fins would be VERY cool... and oh-so-fiddly to put together!
RyanSilva Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 (edited) The photoetched cylinder heads are available actually but for porsche 356 if i recall, i forget who makes them but I seen them on automotive forums model section. Edited January 17, 2012 by RyanSilva
Tye Brown Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Got one of mine on the weekend and it's a red one I did open all 3 kits in my LHS to see if there was one & I found it woohooo..But sshhhhh don't tell them I did that
VW Dave Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Those resin bits look great, Ryan! I'm really looking forward to having some deeper buggy wheels without hacking my only set of 356 or Kubel wheels apart.
Fernando Roman Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 The photoetched cylinder heads are available actually but for porsche 356 if i recall, i forget who makes them but I seen them on automotive forums model section. Look up Gionc. He is from Italy and produces a great photoetch set for the Porsche 356, besides the cylinder head set. He also does resin (ScuderiaItalia.Lab @ Stradasports.com) Not sure if he's still producing anything, though..
RodneyBad Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Looks Good Jared I like the white walls. Classic look
Tony T Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 (edited) Ryan - Great casting! Wow! I'd love to have a set of widened smoothy VW wheels...for an eventual Herbie build. Those could serve as a basis with filled in slots, I'd think. I'd be interested in a set of stock and a set of widened or two... Oh, I picked up the Manx kit today. Mine's in white plastic. I did put together the display base. Kind of flimsy. May have to do a glue and tape rebuild on it. Edited January 22, 2012 by Tony T
Guest Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Is this kit on hobbyshop shelves, or due this month? I'm a bit confused by conflicting reports I have read.
