Let's file that under "T.M.I."... ;)

Yeah... oversharing.. Need more fiber, I guess... I do recall the food on British Airways being pretty good for airline food.

Actually, one thing I like doing when I travel is visiting grocery stores. The differences in products and observing everyday lives is interesting. It's not the only thing I do and I don't plan vacations around it, but I still make a point of stopping and looking.

I agree!

Once when we were on the road, we stopped at a country store.

They had a Lindberg '53 Ford Crown Vic there for $9!

Needless to say, I have a '53 Ford Rat Rod on my bench now. :)

Except for an all expense paid trip to Vietnam in 1969, I haven't been out of the USA. I don't even have a passport. When the lawn sprinkler system has completed it's run, I might venture out to Hobbytown USA in Gainesville - or I just might go to the hobby room and work on kits. It's tough making these major decisions everyday.

I'm with ya on that one,Jim. But it seems that the way we go from state to state, Euro guys go country to country.I don't think anything of passing the U.S Air Force museum passing Dayton(I've been there 3 times now) on 75 south, but THEY might think it was a vacation point. Been to the Alamo quite a few times. I don't go anymore, I've seen/been there. Maybe those guys feel the same about the Eiffel Tower, or the Vatican, or even the beach at Normandy. They're THERE, they can see them anytime they want. We gotta cross an ocean to get there, much less see them. Greenfeild Village/ Henry Ford Museum is 5 minutes from my house, but I've been there a coupla times now, and I only go now when i take guests sightseeing. Motown is down on Grand Blvd, an I used to pass it all the time when i worked in that area. Just another house on the Blvd. to me. Maybe that's how they feel about it too. Just sayin....:):);)

LOL @ everyone's comments.

I don't let me kids ride their bikes on the major roads either :)

My wife went to Rome and traveled Italy a few years ago (with her mother). Enjoy the trip.

For what its worth, I think it'd be pretty cool to visit a hobby shop in Rome... Yeah there is a lot more to see but why not fit in a hobby shop too.

Whoever said seen one seen them all is on something. I've never been anywhere outside the US except the Netherlands, Bahamas and Bermuda. I've been everywhere in the US..... I LOVE NYC and Chicago... I live in (bear) Boston. I'd love to travel abroad...and I'd probably seek out hobby shops while I was there.

We don't even live on a major road; we live in the country.

It's how we parents are pal...we're put on this earth to protect our kids from harm. You will too some day

the thing about the supermarkets in other countries is interesting. when i was in Portugal we shopped at a few local stores for food to make in our apartment and they were massively different than what i was used to in the United States. the other thing i kept looking for but never found was a 7-Eleven! while i was pretty open to eating Portuguese food and dishes there were things that i just wanted, sort of like comfort foods i guess, things like a Coke and a bag of Dorito's. i was able to compromise with Coke in glass bottles still  and Sumol a Portuguese fruit soda and they also had Pringles! i still miss the simple ham and cheese and the pork filet sandwiches down by the beach, and yes they are different than the ones here.

the big suprise while there? hot dogs in glass jars filled with some mysterious liquid and the hamburger's that were made from ham

interestingly too it was that trip over there that turned me off of fast food here.

I still remember the Salt & Vinegar Pringles in the UK and the great ham and cheese baguette sandwiches in France... I'd like to go to Portugal...Portugal and Spain are on my to-visit list.

On thursday morning is the flight from Helsinki-Vantaa airport. I know those three hobby shops, but that is enough, if there is something. I want to see some scale model cars, not just railway or airplane models... But I think, they have pretty much of them, because cars are quite big thing in Italy. American cars are of course almost inpossible to find, but European Race cars are pretty good also... It's inportant to get even one kit...

I'm back from Rome! I visited in that Giorni Modellismo. It was pretty good shop, close to Vatican. There were very much models, and some cars and motorbikes. I bought one Tamiya's Porsche 935...This kit

The "better" shop, Modellismorossi was really bad. Went there with underground (what an experience!). Then looking for the shop, and when I found it, it was full of RC. There were simply two model kits, one airplane and one ship. I bought nothing from there.

Of course I visited in Colosseum, Forum Romano, ST. Peter's Church, Fontana Di Trevi etc... Not only in model shops. <_<
