If for some reason the link dies beforen you see this, it was a Canadian release Mini Exotics Chaparral 2H. And this wasn't a bidding War, it was a buy it now. OK I'm Crazy but............. And yes I Am a CanAm nut but if this is where the prices are headed look out 1/43, 'cause your silly prices aren't looking all that silly any more.

If you were paying attention in class, you'd realize Mini Exotics is long gone. There's no other way you'll get the kit unless one of the few issued gets sold by an individual; not like you can place an order. People who build exotic sports cars/race cars like this pay that kind of money all the time for their kits. I wouldn't, but they do.

If someone pays the price offered, what's the problem? I'm sure if you were selling it you'd be happy.

Agreed, and is $250 really a crazy price for a low-production, high-quality kit? I don't think so.

But Ed, if your trying to complete a Chaparrel collection...what do you do?

I wouldn't pay it, but if you gotta have it...you gotta have it.

Hi There Tommy

I Am tryin' to complete a Chaparral collection. My Avatar is what it is because of them :) What I do is pass and hope for another to come along. Now as to your last statement, well your sig. states "Remember...IT'S JUST A FREAKIN' HOBBY...NOW GO BUILD SOMETHING!!" but if it gets to that point wouldn't ya call it an obsession instead of a Hobby !?

Ed, years ago, I paid 200 bucks for a sealed 66 Chevy Impala SS. MOST I've EVER paid for a model car. NOW we got a state of the art 66, but 10 years ago, it was worth it to me. I feel ya Daddy-O! ( now watch, some company will do it in plastic! sometimes ya just can't win!):o:lol::D:);)

Not sure what made you think I was unaware of the status of Mini exotics or why you felt the need to be condescending, but if that made you happy so be it. Yes I know there are those that pay those prices, but like you I'm just not one of them.

Hi There Casey

I'm really not sure just how limited the production was. There were at least 2 Canadian runs. One with Black ane White artwork and one with a Color Picture of the built car and I'm not sure if it was produced again after being sold to the guy in Washington State. I will agree the Canadian Kits were/are of high quality, but $250.... I guess it just passes my $ level, but more power to those for whom it doesn't!

Hi George

Ain't that just the way things work out. In the Chaparral World there's the Modelers 2D that was repopped not long ago, so now you can get it for ~$55 + shipping and just prior if you wanted one it was ~ $150+. Although I've got resin Chaparral Kits here I'd LOVE to see Revell or Fuji (Hey Round 2, How do the molds for the Chaparral 2 look??) do a series of the entire Chaparral livery, 2 - 2K, in full detail. Heck they could even throw in all 3 versions of the Troutman and Barnes Chaparral "1" and I'd get them also.

As to what a Kit is worth, well that's a something each has to decide for themself. If one is happy when they hit the reply button, write the check or fork over the cash or swap then it's a fair price for them and more power to'em.

Sorry, the way this thread was presented was the reason, sounded like another condescending thread about idiots on Ebay and Ebay itself. Just seems so silly how many people take Ebay so seriously when something is for sale or sells that is beyond their limit.

Ok, I can see where you woulda thought that. Sure wasn't my intent. It's just some sales make me say "WOW" :D;)

I've got to say 249 for a Mini Exotics isn't all that crazy. I don't know much about Mini Exotics but I do know some of their limited releases will fetch close to 500 bucks now-a-days. It all depends on how much you are willing to spend and what you want to spend it on.
