The Modeling Hermit Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I have a next door neighbor that has been working on a 1992 Chevy stepside 4X4 for several years. He raised the body 3 inches and the chassis the same. He's got 35 X 12.5 swampers on it and a set of studded tires of the same size for winter. It's got a GM performance small block with several hundred dollars in upgrades added to it, and the chassis has been professionally rebuilt both front and rear. He's got to have close to $10,000.00 in this truck. He's now bought a new truck and a boat, plus he has a new wife, and has lost interest in it, so what does he do with this fine truck?... He sells it to me for $3,000.00
Junkman Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I know quite a few people who do strange things. They build plastic model kits.
JesseJames Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 What a steal for sure!! Great lookin truck dude, how many miles does that sbc have on it?
highway Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I think I'm going to call the Alaska State Troopers, because you done STOLE that truck!!! :o
Chuck Most Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I've seen guys build trucks with killer lifts, heavy axles, and huge tires.... and never, ever take them off road for fear of scratching the paint. I've never been able to nab one of those trucks for a song myself, so I'd have to say epic score on this one!
george 53 Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Welp, I guess you CAN drive it like ya stole it! caz you sure got on heckava deal there,Brother!!!!
FASTBACK340 Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 ask him how much he wants for the new wife I was thinking the same thing.....
crazyjim Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Sounds like your neighbor has been out in the cold too long. What a nice deal though.
trogdor Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I'll give you 3100.00 and you can pocket a quick Benjamin
Jon Cole Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Good deal, Doug! His loss; your gain! (Add emoticon indicating happiness)
scalenut Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 it's crazy what new wives can do to a man .... epic score
Lunajammer Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 (edited) But they don't write country songs about new wives. Edited August 3, 2011 by Lunajammer
MikeMc Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Reminds me of Barret Jackson....A lot of heavily modified cars (yeah they are crappy) sell for far less than the parts put into the build....I've got a buddy that scored a "Pro Street" mustang for 13k.....sold the parts for close to 20k....still has the bare shell. His buy was due to the awful paint on the car...I guess some people are color blind
Rick Schmidt Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 i'm sure the guy who sold it to you knew that he was never going to get back anywhere near what he had into it. more than likely too with a new wife and new projects and interests on the board he was done with that truck as well, you just happened to be in the right place at the right time and got a good deal. I gotta agree When us car guys are building our dream car we can care less that we are putting way more into the car than its worth. We think "man I'll never sell it anyway " but then he decides to do just that. Unlike most fools ya see " 92 Chevy Truck Has many mods over 10000 in mods to suspension and Motor Asking 13000.. " he's just being real and like Dave says knows he'll never get it all back. So you end up with the baddest deal around he gets rid of the truck he no longer has interest in Everybody is happy. Congrats on the new truck Looks like a monster
