Guest Sickfish Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 New prototype Cadillac Ciel, meaning "sky". It look's alot like a modern-day cross between an old Caddy & Lincoln?? Has a twin-turbo V6, cranking out 420+HP...& 22in wheels... I'm not a GM guy but this sure is a beautiful tourer... Cheers Cliffo...
slantasaurus Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Looks an awful lot like the Chrysler Pheaton show car from 1997. Maybe Caddy thoght everyone forgot about it..... http://www.allpar.com/cars/concepts/1997-phaeton.html

CorvairJim Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Everybody has cars they'd like to see kitted. This isn't one off them for me. On the other hand, factory show cars in general are a specialized sort of thing so some guys are seriously into them while others (like myself) see those kits as being nothing more than sources for parts like wheels, tires, engines, and interior pieces once they hit the closeout table. Before someone tools up for something like this, I'd like to see plenty of production cars done. (How about a '64 Corvair Monza Spyder? )
Danno Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 It's okay in my book, but I'd rather have a CTS-V kit, or a Rampside / Greenbriar!
crazyjim Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Does nothing for me - except the for the seats. I like the interior.
Dr. Cranky Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 You know, they keep thinking that they are doing these great and beautiful designs, but any original Caddy would beat that . . . or the original Continental even! Having said that, it wouldn't hurt to cast new kits just to keep the blood flowing . . .
crazyjim Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 I wouldn't mind seeing the little Cadillac. I don't know the model. It's kind of squared off and maybe a 2 seater.
Danno Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 I wouldn't mind seeing the little Cadillac. I don't know the model. It's kind of squared off and maybe a 2 seater. The XLR? Not a problem ~ right now. Jimmy Flintstone offers the body in resin ... just grab a Corvette kit for the rest!
crazyjim Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 XLR -that's the one Danno. Thanks. I've never done a resin body and I have a Sting Ray III sitting here. Maybe.....
Danno Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 XLR -that's the one Danno. Thanks. I've never done a resin body and I have a Sting Ray III sitting here. Maybe..... Hey, take a shot! Flintstone offers the body for around $12, I think, so it's very affordable and not a huge investment for a first-time resin effort.
High octane Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 No I wouldn't want to see that car in kit form and not too many that I do as I have MORE than enough kits in my stash and I'm short on MOTIVATION.
Danno Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 It's $18. Maybe I'll try it. Ouch. Inflation. Sorry about that. Still a pretty decent price for a conversion body. If you go for it, be sure to post your work; it should make a very cool model! Good luck.
charlie8575 Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Well, Cliff, great minds run on the same track, I was actually about to post about this. The story can be found here, too. http://autos.yahoo.com/news/cadillac-unveils-convertible-hybrid-concept-car.html Personally, I think it's actually a rather nice-looking car. The article notes a subtle hint of 1961-'69 Continentals with the slightly stepped slab-side and the center-latched doors, which I agree is there. I'd certainly not object to a model. Actually, I wouldn't even be disappointed if Cadillac started making this. I think it's a far sight better than the ugly-mobiles they're offering now. Charlie Larkin
philo426 Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 The rear end looks lik a '69 ElDorado! Very cool!
Jon Cole Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 I like it. I don't care if it looks like something else. Sooner or later, everything looks like something else. This concept looks... like luxury touring to me.
mr moto Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 I think its cooool!! That's the kind of luxo-boat that Caddy needs to re-establish the idea that Caddy equals real luxury. They had lost that mojo for a number of years but are working back toward it. Something like that could seal the deal!
Junkman Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 It's about time Cadillacs got their fins back. Now why don't they just put a roof on it, and produce it? Oh, true, it could actually sell and turn them a profit. Not good since they want to export more jobs to China.
