Mr. Moparman Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 The feature that we could make a link with a title that looked like this example, This is the link to the MCM Forums Note: That was not a real link.
MrObsessive Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 I was wondering the same thing when I was making a new post on my '64 Olds. It's a neat feature as it can tidy up your post a bit with just a few words, than a long drawn out URL. (eBay's are the WORST!)
Greg Myers Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Ah some one else missed it too. You're right Bill it did add to the tidiness of a post.
Harry P. Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 I was wondering the same thing when I was making a new post on my '64 Olds. It's a neat feature as it can tidy up your post a bit with just a few words, than a long drawn out URL. (eBay's are the WORST!) When you copy and paste a long link here it automatically gets shortened. Still works, though. For example, click on this link... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Galaxy-promo-model-car-1966-/320751064762?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4aae40d6ba Then check how long the address really is.
MrObsessive Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Hmmm........I was playing around with some HTML code in the text box............for example "a href=" and it doesn't seem to work here. Even with the HTML formatting turned off.................No dice. I suppose Gregg had that feature disabled for some reason?? Gregg!!
MrObsessive Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 When you copy and paste a long link here it automatically gets shortened. Still works, though. For example, click on this link... http://www.ebay.com/...=item4aae40d6ba Then check how long the address really is. True, but I like my own words better!
MikeMc Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 (edited) This is the link to the MCM Forums RESIN So type it in, highlight it, then go up and use the link window..... Edited September 4, 2011 by MIKE THE MANIAC
MrObsessive Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 (edited) Hmmm........I got it now! I still like the other way a bit better though. My '64 Olds Fotki Album Edit: Thanks Mike! I can go back to using my own words again! Edited September 4, 2011 by MrObsessive
MikeMc Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 biggest difference is the not opening another window with the forum...we don't need 2 tabs / windows open as that is a waste on the server. It does automatically detect and tag external link...then it will open a second....on that server.....I think it will speed things up, and slow Greggs $$$ down a bit
MrObsessive Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Well as they say, "old habits die hard"! I was used to typing everything in as I knew the coding of what to get for font types, colors, HTML tags, etc. Yeah, as I play around more with the settings in the text box, it'll get easier as time goes on. The old format with HTML for posting was not as user friendly on my end as it is now. Now if we can just get the video embedding back here.............unless I'm missing something there too!
Mr. Moparman Posted September 5, 2011 Author Posted September 5, 2011 Hmmmm.. let me try this, 1970 Pymouth SuperbirdCool it works!!!
MikeMc Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 (edited) You can post the long link...open the options, pick long link and cut and paste Edited September 5, 2011 by MIKE THE MANIAC
MrObsessive Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 I figured out the video embedding thing by doing this............ [ media ] your video URL [ /media ] Of course there's no spaces when doing this..............works like a charm!

Romell R Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 I figured out the video embedding thing by doing this............ [ media ] your video URL [ /media ] Of course there's no spaces when doing this..............works like a charm! Hey Bill is that car still for sale????
charlie8575 Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Nice! The car's not bad, either. Charlie Larkin
Dr. Cranky Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 I like threads where things resolve themselves without a little help from friends!
MrObsessive Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Hey Bill is that car still for sale???? Sorry Romell. I sold that one around this time last year. I wanted the auction to be as clear as possible on eBay, so I shot that video and posted it there so they could see exactly what they were bidding on. IIRC, it was sold to a fellow in Great Britain and I gotta tell ya, he paid a PRETTY PENNY for it! The bidding was furious right down to the last second and I got a LOT more than what I originally paid for it from Danbury Mint. There was no reserve on it BTW............ I also have Danbury's 1/12 '57 Chevy and '64½ Mustang Convertible. The Chevy turns up quite often on eBay. not so much the Mustang, so if I ever want to sell that one, I can expect a frenzy of bidders!
