MicroNitro Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 That wheelie bar looks dead on and the little wheel you made is great.
jmpsebring Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 The final turbo angle looks great. Sunday I copied you wheelie bar...I feel no guilt! Saved me lots of time.
Prostreet Posted April 12, 2012 Author Posted April 12, 2012 Thx. Jim, I copied the 1:1 lol. That's what this hobby is about getting ideas from other people and using them.
Prostreet Posted April 12, 2012 Author Posted April 12, 2012 Messed around with the rear wheels a little tonight, I decided to do anodized red bead rings to be a little different as black and gold seem to be the norm. I used model masters Acryl clear red on the ring then hit with some model masters dull coat to give it that flat ano look and finished it of with RB motion bolt heads. All that's left to do is put on the valve stems and once the tire decals show up i can finish the tires and i will finally have one completed piece. The picture was taken with my Iphone, they look much better in person.
tyrone Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 Wheels look badazz Joe I like the red beadlock ring...
Mooneyzs Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Nice work on the bead lock. Looks Killer Joe!!! very nice work.
stump Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Joe, LOVE that wheelie bar set up mate. And I must agree, the red beadlock makes a pleasant change from the blue and black you see all the time. Nice touch.
Prostreet Posted April 15, 2012 Author Posted April 15, 2012 Thx. Guys, Built the master cylinder last night and turned some caps for it, They will be anodized red to match the beadlocks. Will make the mount tonight and get it finished up.
Mooneyzs Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Joe.... Killer work on the master cylinder. It's little details like this that makes our build pop. I really need to get myself a miniature lathe. I wanted to ask you again which I could probably dig thru the post here on where you go the springs that you changed out on your struts and coilovers?? I know the springs you switched too looked perfect for these. Thanks man!

They are so darn small, Hope to have a picture of it mounted in the frame later. The springs came from this Harbor Freight kit. http://www.harborfreight.com/200-piece-assorted-spring-set-67562.html Alot of little useful springs in there, If you can't find any let me know and i can hook you up.
Mooneyzs Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Joe... thanks for the Spring info buddy. I am gonna have to swing by one of the harbor frieghts here and pick up a box of those. Oh man I know what you mean about having tiny parts fly out of the tweezers. I have done that a few times with the small nuts and bolts. There have been a handful that I couldn't find...lol
ClayK Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Lookin' good Joe. How far away are you from painting the chassis?
comp1839 Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 really nice looking stuff goin' on, joe. since you picked red anodize for the wheels. do you have a plan for the paint yet?
Prostreet Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 Thx. so much guys, As far as paint goes i hope to have it in primer in another 2 weeks i hope. Still have to add couple more bars and tabs, As far as color goes , Really leaning towards a pearl white or maybe german silver i really have no idea yet. Not sure if i will do graphics or not, Tonight i finished the foot pad and it will probably get a grip tape type material to finish it off. Also got the master cylinder mount done, The lines will go into the chassis then exit in front of the firewall like they are going through the frame. My end mill bits will be here this week so i hop to start on the top part of my manifold.
Mooneyzs Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Nice work Joe on the master cylinder bracket. It looks great. I have to ask why brand lathe and mill do you have?? I really have been considering them. Actually I want want them bad but can't figure which I should go with. I have been looking at the Sherline's and the Micro mark ones but think I am leaning more towards the Sherline though.
Prostreet Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 Thx. Chris, My lathe is an old one my Dad had back when he flew Rc planes, I bet it's about 26 years old or more, It's a Taig. They actually still make them, He use to build his own parts for his planes. It works fine for me so far, I don't have a mill. I will be using a milling attachment on the lathe, I'm saving my money to get a micro mark or sherline mill.
eviltwincustoms Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Very nice set up on the master cylinder and mount, looks like it was made for your car... You are doing some great work on your lathe, sounds like pretty soon you will be turning your own wheels and milling the centers out on your own soon!
stump Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Joe, that's some nice work mate. For a 26 year old lathe, she's still turning out nice pieces man. (pun intended.. )
Prostreet Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 Thx guys, I'm having alot of fun trying to make my own parts, next is the upper intake then on to the front rotors and hats. Hopefully after that I wanna try to make the MSD mag. As far as trying to make wheels, Who knows once I get a mill I might try to.
Prostreet Posted April 18, 2012 Author Posted April 18, 2012 Thx.Rom. Little update, I got the top half of the intake done. Still needs some clean up and fine sanding, I used the mill attachment for my lathe to make it. Doing it this way really limited me doing a couple little things to the intake that i wanted to do, A rotary table would have helped. I can't wait to get a mill it's alot of fun making these little parts, Not sure what i'm doing with the lower half or the throttle body yet. Might do it out of brass or just do styrene.
