modelercarl Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Just received a set of Michigan State Police car decals from Jim Botatis (JBot Decals) and as usual they are excellent. This is the second order from him and I suggested he update the images with the new changes that have been instituted by MSP for their car signage and license plates after I got the first set and he did his usual fine job with the revisions. Just want to pass on to anyone thinking of ordering from Jim that the Canadian post office took 2 months to the day to get this order to me and I noticed with this order that the CPO does not use postmark dates any more so you don't know how long they take to forward mail...poor service for sure. I recommend using JBot decals for their quality but you should plan on waiting a significant amount of time for delivery after ordering....just a "heads up" for everyone.

Wow... and we think the USPS is slow!
PatRedmond Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 (edited) We had a postal strike/lockout earlier in the summer and now the posties are 'Working To Rule' because they didn't get their way. Also, US Customs is controlled by the Department Of Homeland Security who apparently are paranoid..... Edited September 26, 2011 by PatRedmond
Casey Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Wow... and we think the USPS is slow! You and the mouse in your pocket? I don't think USPS is slow at all. Even a huge package going cross-country via Parcel Post takes only five business days. I sure can't deliver a 4 oz package myself from WI to CA for $2.00, so I'll gladly have USPS do it in four days.
Agent G Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Must be regional with USPS. A letter or card from Las Vegas to St Louis takes a minimum of five days. StL to Vegas, three or four, go figure. G
martinfan5 Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 I get packages fast with USPS, Bought a couple of kits of eaby, seller sent on Thursday, I had them on Saturday, and the kits were shipped from I Illinois I believe. Now on to regular mail, I am waiting on decal order from Canada( not from jbot) and they have to be mailed from Canada to the retailer then to me. So I am hoping it doesn't take that long
peter31a Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Yeah, the whole thing drives me crazy. Still haven't received issue 161 yet but the MCM subs renewal form made it here in 6 days counting the weekend. How they can get some stuff delivered so fast and take forever on other stuff is just beyond me.
ranma Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Modelercarl i have been trying to contact you about the lonestar model my address has been sent to you.
High octane Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Wow... and we think the USPS is slow! As long as the USPS is slow with delivering the bills and junk mail, that's okay Harry. I only want them to speed up delivery on checks and magazines.
mistermodel Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Ive sent stuff to people in the US and recieved stuff both from stores and indivuals .It takes longer than normal mail. Its the customs that holds it up,much slower going south than north.Your homeland secrurty has to moniter us radical model builders
Nitrozilla Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 Must be regional with USPS. A letter or card from Las Vegas to St Louis takes a minimum of five days. StL to Vegas, three or four, go figure. G It also costs more (usually) to fly out of Vegas than it costs to fly in.
modelercarl Posted November 11, 2011 Author Posted November 11, 2011 Actually, I tried to find this thread when it was current but couldn't find it ,,, ANYWAY,,, My wife works at a drug store at the Canada Post outlet there and she says they do indeed still use dated postmark. just like any other mail service. ,, EXCEPT if it was bulk mail such as fliers envelopes of cupons etc. Any NORMAL letter or parcel traveling Canada Post MUST have a postmark with date and point of mailing or it just dosen't go. Wrong....Jim sent me the decals in a #10 security envelope with his sender address and my address both hand written and there was no postmark. My letter carrier even thought it was unusual and thought they were just covering up how long they held it before forwarding.
ranma Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 Carl still trying 2 contact u to give u my address 4 the lonestar.
ranma Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 Carl I mailed my address to modelercarl profile page
Chuck Most Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 A lot of it does have to do with customs- for instance, I'm about 60 miles north west of Detroit- shipping a package to or from Detroit is usually a next day deal. Now, Windsor, Ontario is right across the river from Detroit, but it can be a week or longer before anything I send gets there, or anything sent to me from there gets here. Even if the Canadian postal workers are slacking, I'm thinking most packages spend a little bit of time chilling in customs. Just my own personal experience.
kenb Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 I ship items all over the world as an extra income. I think the USPS does a darn good job, untill something gets out of the country. Then it's anybodies guess. That's why I'm hesitent to send some high dollar irreplacable antique part to Mosambique through USPS. They have no tracking out of the country. My Canadian customers recieve their items quite fast. Unfortunately if they ship to here it's a different story. Could grow a beard waiting for something. Just my 2 cents. Ken
Maindrian Pace Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 I got a J-Bot order in about a month. Not a problem, I think it even mentioned slow Canada Post on the website. -MJS
