Dr. Cranky Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 Thanks, everyone. Yes, you know, it's not like I'm making a big deal about a kit that didn't exist until now! LOL! FEED YOUR STYRENE HABBIT with more, more, MORE STYRENE!!!
cotto Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Interesting project, can't wait to see what you come up with.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 I just had to share this as I continue to do some research on colors and body styles, etc . . . all good possibilities for this kit: LONG LIVE RUST!
Dr. Cranky Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 The temptation is always too great:
W-409 Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 This is very interesting build, can't wait to see Hudson completed. Keep it going, I'll be watching this one. And those Classic Chevrolets are looking really good too.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 Thanks, Niko! Greetings to all the friends in Vantaa!
Jantrix Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Virgil, I think you really aught to just create a CBP and then sit back and watch the action. The same for the Revell 48.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 Rob, I thought about that, but I don't want to just sit back and watch! I want to build too! The frenzy of energy that goes around, comes around! Says EYEGORE! He's like the YODA of the Lab-RAT-ory these days! Cheers, DC
highway Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Ok, I know this probably isn't the most original of ideas, but I hope to get a couple for these:
Dr. Cranky Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 I am hoping someone (Slixx Decals?) will put out a version of these decals.
highway Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 I am hoping someone (Slixx Decals?) will put out a version of these decals. I doubt Slixx will, because nowadays if it ain't NHRA, they don't do it. There are others like Just Want To Build A Model that do make very nice NASCAR decal sheets, so we can only hope!
Dr. Cranky Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 That's a good lead, Dave . . . perhaps someone will chime in with the info.
bandit1 Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 HEY DOC! since you like "RUST" i found a site you have to check out (im even a member there!) http://www.oldride.com/rustyrides.html
Tom Kren Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 cool site I sent it to bill borgan thought he love it too! I dont get my hudson till tuesday so im looking and getting ideas got a good one now!
Dr. Cranky Posted October 1, 2011 Author Posted October 1, 2011 Thanks for the great eye candy, Sean. I bookmarked it! LONG LIVE RUST!
Chuck Most Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 I'm still in the 'piddling with it' stage- After I removed the 'paddles' from the kit wheels, I test fit one into a resin whitewall I had laying around. Next up is removing the copyright engraving, up over where the rear axle goes- And the other, up on top. Normally, this would not be visible unless you opened the trunk... so there's a clue for you as to one of the modifications I intend to make on mine.
Chuck Most Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Oh, don't worry- I've already devised a way around that.
Joe Handley Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Ditto, I've got a Dremel and a folder full of small rounded files
Chuck Most Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 (edited) Got rid of the mold lines on the body- the rear ones are pretty faint but showed up with primer and a little wet sanding. Not sure if any of the trim or handles will join the Jimmy Hoffa and the mold lines just yet. Guess we'll see shortly. Edited October 1, 2011 by Chuck Most
Dr. Cranky Posted October 1, 2011 Author Posted October 1, 2011 Chuck, you've got my attention. I trimmed off those front fender lights, the door handles, and some of those light mold lines on the body, but I left the side trim . . . I hope to be able to do something interesting in the paint booth shortly. Keep the eye candy coming, everyone. Let's see if by the time Halloween comes around (Wow, a Halloween Hornet Build!) we have a bunch of these suckers build to show Moebius what happens when they put out a new kit! Cheers!
rbarton Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Interesting build. Can't wait to see the finished project.
Dr. Cranky Posted October 1, 2011 Author Posted October 1, 2011 Well, I've got mine in white Plastikote primer, but I am in total fear of what color or paint system to use, but it will come to me . . . in the meantime, things are drying nicely. Stay tuned in for progress pics . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted October 1, 2011 Author Posted October 1, 2011 Also, I've decided to go with my own mixed color, a red, using Auto Air Colors. I am doing some plastic spoon tests before I make a final commitment.
Dr. Cranky Posted October 1, 2011 Author Posted October 1, 2011 Some progress so far: Here's the body in white primer looking pretty smooth . . . The gas cap door comes as a separate part on this kit, so it could actually be glued open, but I didn't do it like that . . . (maybe the next one.)
Diesel Gypsy Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Jeeeze guys those builds are looking good.
