jeffs396 Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Mr. Metzner, Could you verify the correct pronunciation of Moebius for us? I'm a newbie to your kits, and I've heard it different ways, and since there will be many Hudsons (and soon the 300) built here, we should all be saying it right I believe this way is INCORRECT: MOOY-BUS? And BTW, thanks for the great kits!
highway Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Even though you are asking Dave for the correct pronunciation, I'd like to know if the way I've been saying it is correct or not! I have been saying it: Moe-buy-us
a/gass Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 ??? i think its moe - be - us ?moe like 3 stoogers
highway Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I don't know, but the southern pronunciation might be Moebius y'all!! Oh, and by the way, I have a southern twang to my voice, so I'm not making fun of southerners!
Joe Handley Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Not sure myself, I've been pronouncing it Moe-bee-us.
Jon Cole Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Not sure myself, I've been pronouncing it Moe-bee-us. x2
Harry P. Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Not sure myself, I've been pronouncing it Moe-bee-us. That's correct (English approximation, anyway). And yes, that blue loop in the logo represents a Moebius strip. http://en.wikipedia....i/Moebius_strip
Ryan S. Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Good question. I've been a little curious about this myself. For the longest time I pronounced REVELL, like TREBLE. It wasn't until recently that I noticed that most people pronounce it REH-VELL.
Joe Handley Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Pardon my ignorance, but what is a moebius strip?
Ben Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Pardon my ignorance, but what is a moebius strip? I was wondering the same thing. Here's the answer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%B6bius_strip
62rebel Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 i'll defer to Robby the Robot. he called Moebius "Moe-be-us" and was not corrected. would 300 gallons be enough, sir?
lordairgtar Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Pronunciations are a funny thing. I really can't stand it when people pronounce JoHan, yo hahn. It's Jo like Joe, and Han like Han Solo...JoHan!
Tonioseven Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 (edited) Moe-be-us. Revell: the two Ls at the end of the word designate that the accent is on the second syllable (at least in this case). Johan, from what I gather, is derived from "John Hanley". I'm fascinated by those that pronounce "Tamiya" tuh-MI-yuh. It all goes back to the basics of what we learned in grade school. I guess I payed too much attention to my English/grammar teacher. http://cs.finescale....s/t/125379.aspx Edited October 4, 2011 by Tonioseven

It's Jo like Joe, and Han like Han Solo...JoHan! I have a very good friend from South Africa whos name is Johan. In Europe it's pronounced Yo- hahn, but in South Africa it's pronounced U1.... Dig that accent.
MrObsessive Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Hmmm......for all these years I was saying Tah-MEE-yah. Looks like the emphasis should be on the first syllable and not the second. Speaking of accents, I've been in other parts of the country and folks can tell that I'm from Central PA. We have an accent here??
Danno Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 I know how to pronounce Moebius (moe-bee-us), Tamiya (tuh-mee-yaw), JoHan (joe-hann), and Revell (rev-ell). I just have trouble with the correct pronounciation of AMT.
