BKcustoms Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 (edited) Here's another one of my many projects,I started with a monogram 55 ford pickup and then out came the saw and bondo! I chopped the top, moved the front wheel openings forward, channeled the body lower in between the fenders, sectioned the hood, scratchbuilt a custom front end, and now I am working on scratchbuilding a frame with working suspension. thanks for looking! BKcustoms Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 (edited) Sorry about the duplicate pics, no idea how that happened Well anyway, heres the pics that were supposed to be in place of the duplicates, the first is the wheels i am hoping to find for this build, and the second is just another mockup Edited October 8, 2011 by BKcustoms
RodneyBad Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 O yaaa, I'd like to see more too.. Front end is looking Great so far.
mytricia Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 love the front end.really looking forward to seeing more, especially under the hood.keep it up! marty-the "alabama slamma"
SSNJim Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Looks good. What did you do with the hood? It looks more square than the stock hood, almost like a 72 Chevy pickup. I'll keep my eye on this one.
Chuck Most Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Looks good. What did you do with the hood? It looks more square than the stock hood, almost like a 72 Chevy pickup. I'll keep my eye on this one. It does look a bit 'flatter'. I think he sectioned it.
Psychographic Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 It looks like you really nailed the tradition custom image. I'll definitely be following this build. Tuck n roll interior?
BKcustoms Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 Thanks a bunch guys! I did section the hood IIRC I ended up cutting 3mm out of it. And great Idea psychographic! I think I'm going to try the tuck n roll interior. also thinkin about using the Ardun flathead out of the 50 ford p/u in this.
Ryan S. Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 I love these '55's. I like what you've got going so far. Can't wait to see how the front end comes out. Keep it going!
BKcustoms Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 Thanks Ryan! I've been doing bodywork on the cab today and I just shot some primer so I could see the flaws a little better
BKcustoms Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 (edited) I am almost finished with the rear suspension, It's a fully functional 4-link made out of brass tubing and photo-etch brackets from dirtmodeler.com. All thats left is to make a set of coil overs and then I can move on to the front suspension which will also be functional. Hers it is in the raised position. And here it is fully lowered. Thanks for looking! all comments/suggestions welcome.....Billy Edited November 7, 2011 by BKcustoms
crazyjim Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 I've always loved Effies. This one is going to be very cool.

BKcustoms Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 Thanks guys! Does anybody know if there is a place where I can get some bolts and nuts with a. 032 diameter to hold the suspension together? If not I could always just pin the rear suspension in place.
BKcustoms Posted November 24, 2011 Author Posted November 24, 2011 I finished the bodywork on the front end, the headlight tunnels are made out of aluminum tubing.
Ryan S. Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Nice work with the head lights. What do you have planned for the grill? Some small, horizontal bars of polished aluminum would look good.
John Pol Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Thanks guys! Does anybody know if there is a place where I can get some bolts and nuts with a. 032 diameter to hold the suspension together? If not I could always just pin the rear suspension in place. You can get the small bolts and that from this site http://www.scalehardware.com/ John Pol
BKcustoms Posted November 25, 2011 Author Posted November 25, 2011 Thanks for the link John! that is exactly what I need. Ryan, I am planning to do what you said with the aluminum grill.
BKcustoms Posted December 27, 2011 Author Posted December 27, 2011 Well I have been hard at work on this one lately, I decided to open the doors, and once they are hinged they will be suicide doors. I also made a wood bed out of some thin strips of balsa and "C" channel styrene. Thanks for looking, next up will be functional front suspension!
Kauai420air Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Wow it's coming along great. Lovin the look. Great job. I'm goin keep my eye on this one.
